Put 8P or 8 person in the title OP👍

  • Thanks op

Instant up if your don't count the fly, otherwise add another 15 minutes.

Ive got the 10P version. Pretty happy with it. Definitely takes a good 20 mins to setup tho.

    • I have the 4P, takes about 10 minutes to fully set it up.

    • that's only 2 mins per person. pretty good deal if you ask me

  • +1

Looks very similar to this one from anaconda. https://www.anacondastores.com/camping-hiking/tents/family-t…

    • $800 RRP seems a bit inflated if this one retails at half that price?

      • Club price is $299. Who ever believes or pays RRP?

  • +1

Have the 4P, these instant up tents are the best, will never go back to a standard.

    • Until you encounter 40km/h gust wind

      • +1

Have used my old 4p in high winds and storms several times with no issues, including at the beach on sand. Spring guy ropes on the wind side and sand pegs as needed help a lot. I bought bigger pegs to use anyway. I can put it up myself in less that 15mins. The only thing I don't like about it is the design of the front fly canopy, with no centre pole and flat seam where it joins the tent so no slope, water pools centrally in heavy rain. It's better if you lower it at the front but then I'm tall so that's annoying and you have water flowing Infront of your tent rather than to the side. Canopy poles are not adjustable in height either on mine.

      • take a tarp with you and peg it out to deflect the wind over the tent or invest in some longer ground pegs for the fly points

      • I was camped above the snowline and a couple setup an instantup tent which I thought was a bit risky for an alpine environment. A bit of a storm hit that night, probably 60-70klms and sure enough the tent was flattened and they were sleeping in the car. They rigged it much more securely that day and it withstood a few decent blows over the next few days.
Obviously these tents are not meant for alpine environments where 100klm per hour winds are not uncommon but if you're careful you might even survive!

      • Coleman tents will hold up just fine as long as you're using strengthened pegs. The pegs they supply are absolute trash

I had the gold 6P instant-up for a long time, upgraded to the 10P Darkroom and not looked back - easy tents to put up and down and the darkroom is fantastic!

    • Are the darkroom tents different models to these?

      • +2

Yes, they are the same design (or very similar) but have a coating on the fabric to block out light and heat. Good for children who need daytime naps or wake up too early.

        • The 2020 models also have lights installed that run off a power bank so no need to BYO!

  • Good price. I have the 6P and happy with it.

  • Good price but 8P OOS.. :(

  • Thanks bought the 8 person tent for up coming trip

  • Damn missed out by 5 minutes on the 8p.

  • Once you go dark room, you'll never go back…

  • Anyone get a screenshot of the 8P tent price? Want to claim price protection.

  • Have the Aldi 4P instant up tent a few years ago, looks exactly the same as the Coleman. Was on Special Buy and cheaper price than this.

  • 8P is unavailable.

  • I know its sold out now so a bit of a moot point - but you need to specify silver series in the title or description. Coleman have a few different ranges

  • 8p back in stock (only 1) but now at full price

  • If you missed out you there's the Aldi 4P and 6P one, some stores may still have stock. I'm faily certain its just rebranded Coleman.

  • Not instant at all. It needs a lot of guy ropes for structural stability. The joints of the pole are pretty fragile. Very bulky when packed.

    Good price though.

  • Its my first time camping, as a colleague suggested it might be something I should try out.

I have bought the 4P tent for myself, wife and daughter (3 Years old).

Does anyone have an inflatable queen bed they can recommend that would fit in the Coleman 4P tent? Also need something that can be pumped up using the power (cigarette charger) from the car.

    Thanks in advance.

    • Look up the flextailgear pumps on amazon. Amazing output in a tiny package. 1/3 the size of the coleman rechargeable pumps for a similar price.

If you're camping in summer just get an inflatable bed from kmart. Easy to set up and reasonably comfortable. In winter or in places where temps drop below say 10c overnight, look at self inflating mattresses with at least 6" thickness 10" is even better. Look for an R value (insulation rating). The higher the better in stopping the cold ground passing straight through to your back. I like the blackwolf mega deluxe (newer models have different names) but there are plenty of options with varying pricing.

      • Thanks mate, that info should help me get started. Will check out the flextailgear pumps.

        • There's currently good specials on sleeping bags too. I got a couple of these yesterday.

          • @Make it so: Thanks, was not even thinking about sleeping bags, thanks for reminding me.

            • +1

@bruc3: No worries. We're going camping in a few months. Last night I went through the same process as you, being told about all the things I would need and getting a shock. For sleeping bags, you need to check the temperature rating. The ones I bought are suitable up to -3. They are cotton, which I strongly prefer over polyester.

    • I got this one. Seems best price around. There's one with and without in-built pump. I chose with.

      • Yeah I did look at that, but it apparently uses standard 240v power cord, so not sure how I can use it with my car charging ports (think my car got some USB ports and cigarette port).

So probably I am better to buy the one without a pump and buy a seperate pump that supports car charging port?

        • I reckon. You can get a matching Coleman 12V pump here for about $20, so comes down to the same total.

          • @Make it so: Wow, thanks.

I just realised if I scrolled down on the page for the inflatable bed it actually was even mentioned there as "customers also bought" section haha…duh me.

        • I cant find how many watts it uses but if it's under 150w, you can plug this 150W inverter into your car, and then run an extension cord from the bed to the car so that it keeps auto inflating.

If you dont mind manually pumping it, then you can buy a pump with a 12v adapter on it already

  • These are the SIlver EVO models which are good for fair weather and a bit of rain. If you intend on doing camping for 5 days and over, I would recommend you pay the extra and go the Gold EVO model tents. They are better quality and can put up with stronger weather. FWIW, I have both the 6P silver and gold so learnt this myself!

  • Damn just found this now - I need an 8p tent - does anyone know of any other deals??
