Has any body used Carpeesh Car insurance. The quote I got for them is almost half of what Budget Direct is charging.

Does the Insurance provider matter for claims?

Please provide your suggestions.

Yes, Cheaper the longer you will wait.

  • You will need to carefully review the PDS and compare against your current provider

There's a reason there are such big differences in price.

CBF researching but is carpeesh one of those insurance companies that require GPS trackers to be installed?

Well it turns out ICBF and yes

The app also samples driving data obtained using a paired sensor in your car and delivers feedback on recent trips.

They will use any minor abberation in your driving history data to deny your claim.

    • what sorcery is that? :O

That should ring warning bells immediately.

Pretty sure they have a good tracker/obd plugin thing to make sure you are being good.

That company name just reminds me of:

That's all there is to it. Capeesh?.

Probably what they'll say when they refuse your claim!

    What could go wrong then!

  • I'm with them currently and my neighbour reversed into my car parked on the street and I had to make a not at fault claim
Took 2 attempts to log the claim as first one disappeared from their system. After I emailed asking about it I was told that it didn't exist (I had a screenshot of me submitting it)
They don't take too long to answer calls and generally helpful
I had to use their preferred repairer to fix my car and they took double the time to actually fix my car (apparently common)
I was surprised that I had to follow-up a rental car claim directly with my neighbours insurer, they are being difficult (Youi) trying to not cover the car rental even though they confirmed they would over the phone and I chose the cheapest rental option (way worse than my actual car). Carpeesh are fighting them for me

So it hasn't been an amazing experience but insurance claims rarely are, I won't go with them again even though you save hundreds.

    Other notes
You must install the app straight away after joining otherwise your excess doubles on claims
The app never seems to actually record anything despite connecting

  • Carpeesh is an absolute and utter scam.

They literally charge customers because they don't download their app; upon signup you must download the app (too bad if you do not own a smartphone) and in the future when you make a claim, you are required to pay a ridiculous $1000 "drivers safety app" excess merely for not having their app.

On top of that, in order to make a claim, you must find all the information yourself about previous insurance history and driver's history with VicRoads (which you also have to pay for) - you are literally doing their work for them.

    • How is their up front requirement to install a tracking app a scam? Itโ€™s what you sign up for and Is one reason they are cheaper. The other reason is you have to do some of the work to make a claim because doing so saves them money.

Scam is when they take your money and donโ€™t provide a service.
