[NSW] Electrolux 70cm Induction Cooker eh1745ba $299 @ The Good Guys, Casula

60

$299 in boxes at the good guys Casula NSW.
Discontinued cooktop , was up to $1900 .
Doesn't get great ratings so I would pay extra for the longer warranty ( which I assume would be cheap as it's under $500).
Doesn't show in their website either.

  • Actually it's gone lower now to $299!!

  • Oof those reviews are rough.

Bloody good price for an electrolux though.
Pity it doesn't seem to work properly.
But then again my experience with all induction cooktops has been sub par.

    • Good induction is awesome. This, however, definitely sounds like it should be avoided.

    • But then again my experience with all induction cooktops has been sub par.

      Do tell!

      Oof those reviews are rough.

Probably a model that is made in Eastern Europe or Turkey under contract. Usually contract manufacturers could be a bit sub par quality.

      • The first induction cook top i received was a bosch. It shorted out after the first clean when water seeped between the glass and the electrics shorting out the cooker.
        They replaced it under warranty.

The second one lasted 6 months before the same thing happened again, this time it would randomly turn off and register ghost touches.

I believe they've improved them since (this was 4 years ago).

Just purchased a Bosch Gas Cooker and reckon it'll be the ducks nuts.

        • Yeah, our new induction (just moved, and replaced the crap induction that was here) is a Bosch Serie 8, and it's outstanding.

        • water getting into electronics sounds like wasn’t installed properly ….it’s smooth glass top. better hope better luck with the gas and you don’t get gas leak instead …

          • @garage sale: When they warrantied it the technician said that some weren't sealed from the factory properly when they sandwiched the layers and i was one of the unlucky ones (turns out i was unlucky twice).

Apparently it was fairly common in the first gens

  • Yeah based on those reviews, (profanity) that! You'll basically be buying a headache and then get no support by the sounds of it.

  • What happens if you have credit card insurance

    • you can crash your credit card into a Ferrari

  • I bought a Glem (Italian company) induction cooktop 7 years ago for $600 and am astonished that for that price it has been as solid as a rock. Feel for the people that paid $2000 for a lemon from a know company. Crazy to think a company like Glem that I never heard of before is the real deal. Hopefully havent jinxed myself.

  • $300 lemon runout sale!

  • Ikea ones have been good in my experience, this one sounds like trouble.

  • Have an IKEA one. IKEA Customer service was misleading, wasted my $100+ for gas plumber call out. Manufacturers service was actually pretty good. Someone came in on the second day, he was on time, polite and patient.
At the end, it was fitting issue, not Cooktop. Technician said I should not have listened to IKEA and called gas plumber myself.

    • IKEA do gas induction?

      • +1

I presume it was replacing a gas cooktop, but very confusingly explained. No wonder IKEA was confused :-D

        • Sorry my brain was hunting for sugar… it’s a gas cooktop. (I do have one IKEA induction though, has been 3+ years, no issue at all)

  • We have the 8 zone whirlpool induction top from here. Drives me nuts with it auto shutting off if you wipe it anywhere when cooking. But…

Then my partner knocked over a bottle of wine near the edge when cooking pasta (note tipped over, not dropped) and the thing had a 2cm crack near the edge. Next morning, crack had gone all the way across and seperated in two.

Noticed all the old halogen glass tops have frames, but a modern top does not. So be careful as these things crack very easily.

    • +1

Similar experience with the whirlpool here too. A saucepan can boil over merrily at the back but if you wipe over the controls it shuts down and beeps at you for minutes.

  • seems complaints aren’t around E9 error code …. would be interesting to know what it is e.g low supply voltage under load ? earth leakage ?
