Screen of current phone has suffered and now in the market. Xiaomi Redmi note 8t.
Happy with its performance in general although would like a better camera.
What would you guys recommend in the sub $500 bracket with a decent camera? Seen. Few deals popping up of late and bang for buck is always preferred!

My advice would be to get the most expensive Pixel you can afford. I was gonna recommend older Samsung flagships but their software support is not as good as Google. Also this is just me, but I personally just don't like mid range phones. I'd rather have older flagships as opposed to current gen mid range phones. But that's probably not the most helpful advice. I just think flagships were made with more thought and detail.
I'm still getting updates on my S9+, usually every month or 2, but I think they are mainly security based?
Yeah those would be security updates, not entire Android OS updates. But I’m not 100% sure, check which android version you’re on?

I'm not too sure about current gen midrange phones and how good their cameras are, but you should be able to pick up an old flagship like an Samsung S9 or a Google Pixel 3 or 2XL which will definitely have a good camera, despite their age.
