Really good price for the Flash. 1L capacity, 100s boiling time, goes well for 2 or 3 people. Excels at boiling water but not much else, so you'd be looking at soupy meals or dehydrated foods if using this for anything other than tea/coffee. It will struggle in freezing temperatures/high altitude as this model has unregulated gas control. Keep in mind that fuel isn't overly cheap as well, but you can use other brands/mixes. Everything fits inside of the pot which makes it pack away nicely. Other nifty features include push button start and colour-changing temperature sensor on the side of the pot's sleeve. Didn't see much stock available for pickup in SE QLD.

I can't speak for the flash, but my regular jetboil is probably the best thing, product, item, I've bough in my life in the last 10 years. I've taken it all over the world for hiking and trekking trips. It's worked in the desert with sand, it's worked on an ice field above the glaciers of patagonia in sub zero temps - it works when I want to make a coffee on the beach after a surf here in Australia, and it's never failed me.

+1. They say money can't buy happiness, but it can buy you a Jetboil and if you're a hiker then this will bring you endless happiness after the end of a long trail!

  • I bought an alternative from AliExpress - yet to arrive. But just a headsup that they are available - 1400ml, delivered for 60 AUD.

What's the worst thing that could happen with this item hypothetically.

I would assume maybe the gas can exploding would be one or maybe some of the inner wiring melting and causing a short circuit maybe.

Just trying to come up with a list of things that can happen to a cheaply made item in this category of jet boilers.

I've had this one for a few weeks now and used 10 or so times so far. Seems great so far, quality seems amazingly close to the jetboils considering the far cheaper price. I haven't compared boil speeds or gas usage accurately, but seems fast.

      • good to hear !

The price of the jetboil is likely in the patent and/or brand - i bet they are very similar in quality. I will compare them side by side soon enough :)

  • Any wood-burning options instead of gas? I like the idea of the BioLite but dont really need the USB charging.

    • make a rocket stove out of some cans?

  • what is the different between campmaster hiking stove and this stove?

    • +2

These are made a bit better, the insulation is a little thicker from memory, and you get the indicator on the side for when it's hot. I imagine extras, parts, and support would be easier to get with the Jetboil too.

    • +1

A key difference for some people would be that that the gas cannister can fit into the pot "as designed/illustrated" (although there is a workaround). The Campmaster cannot nest the cannister into the plastic cup and then into the pot and the lid won't close. So if you're really tight on space the Jetboil may be more useful.

These work with the $4 Kmart 227g butane canisters? Can anyone compare to 360 Degree Furno stove….for basic use on road trips?
Side note….why do products at Anaconda always get such average ratings!
9% off gift cards at Suncorp brings this down to a fantastic price. Unfortunately can't stack with $20 new sign up code.

Used the Kmart ones for cooking with my trangia (much more versatile) with gas burner. Should be fine for this. 227g lasted 4 days / 3nights. Coffees in morning, cooked dinners, hot chocolates, washing up water etc for family of 4. Pretty decent for $4. Shame about the waste though.

Great deal. Thanks for the description OP. It goes a long way.

I got this one at $49, worth the money, no comparison, no idea how jetboiler better enought in the money

    • from that thread

Boiled 1L of water in about 4 minutes or so.

this claims to do it in 1:40

      • that is the reason why the price is pretty big gap

      • Imagine what you could do with that extra 2 minutes

        • Make more coffee
