Google Photos Storage Quota Problems

Hello Everyone.
The associated folder from my Windows 10 PC was found dis-associated after unlimited Storage Saver (previously High Quality) was discontinued by Google from 1st June.
When I reassociated the folder with Google Photos, it started using my storage quota, even though most of the photos and videos had already been backed up using High Quality settings (without using my available storage limit).
Has anyone had a similar experience?
Thanks in advance.

Yeah, get google rewards, earn some money from answering few surveys and use that to buy extra storage. Problem solved.

    • Thanks for your response.

Are you having the problem explained in my post?

How much can you earn with Google rewards, in how many minutes?

      • Depends.. sometimes you get $1 for 10secs work, sometimes you get $3 for 15mins

        • I keep my google photos afloat via google rewards. I can nearly keep my YouTube going too. I usually get about $15 to $20 a month telling google I go to bigw woolies auspost chemist warehouse bunnings etc. Which they know already but ok.

          • @thatonethere: Thanks. I don't get many surveys. Is there a trick?

            • @rick5042: Try having your phone on when you go to woolies bigw chemist warehouse bunnings. They usually do surveys for me at 30c each.

  • Did the disassociation cause the photos to be seen by Google as new therefore counting towards the storage? Perhaps best to check with Google?

  • I sort of have the opposite "problem", I'm still getting free storage for some photos. Maybe because I'm a Local Guide.

    • It as also free for Google Pixel owners.
      Do you have one?

      • No, I've got an oppo.
