Never thought I'd see the day but has lego has finally run out of ideas.

    edit: good price but..

Yeah the book this is based on is 400 years old, talk about out of date right?

  • Toymate gets terrible reviews on productreview.com.au - I'd proceed with caution unless multiple people here can vouch for them.

never had a problem with them actually. but I generally buy in store. Good range of stock but their price match policy is rather disappointing (won't price match brand wide discounts (e.g. 20% off all lego).

Monkey Kid on the other hand is literally targeted towards the asian market so not a great release from Lego….

Very weird franchise from Lego. Definitely aimed at the Asian market but still feels weird for Lego to spin up their own Monkey story out of thousands already in existence.

  • Lol at the comments. So cny sets are targeted towards Asians too? They seem to be pretty popular with everyone. Is the Bugatti only for Bugatti fans? Are the City space sets only aimed at astronauts?

Wow, way to take things in a literal sense.

If you actually spent time to look into the history of 孫悟空 its literally a fable from the East, i.e most Asians would have heard about a monkey king (or if you watch DBZ…) from childhood stories, hence the series I would say is for a targeted market, not saying others won't enjoy the series or build experience. If they were popular, they wouldn't need to be discounted to 50% off to try and sell stock. Every lego store you go to has a full supply of these whilst others sell out at full retail(Ideas series, star wars, creator expert etc).

So in short yes, the CNY sets are targeted towards Asians (you should see how much that family dinner 80101 is selling on the reseller market), Bugatti I would say would be targeted to experienced technic builders and City space sets go with other space related themes (Ideas Saturn 5, apollo lander module, shuttle) and who doesn't want a space base in their lego city?!
