Would a Payment from AmEx to Latitude Be Treated as a Cash Advance?

Seeking advice from Latitude users.

Latitude doesn't allow you to make repayments with your AmEx from Latitude. So I am wondering whether you can pay from AmEX to Latitude's BPAY? Will that be treated as a cash advance?

You can't pay credit with credit. Why would you want to do this?

    • Cause latitude is holding an incentive lol that's the only reason

      • I'm pretty sure the only way you'll be able to do this is by taking the cash advance, which seems like a terrible idea.

You can pay afterpay with a credit card.

        What could possibly go wrong.

You can pay latitude and zip pay with a VISA / Mastercard, couple of reasons why you'd want to do this

      1. Take advantage of the discounts from the BNPL players
      2. Take advantage of credit card churning via minimum spend requirements, you can take this a step further by splitting BNPL repayments based on which credit card you need to spend on

e.g. Latitude pay offering $20 off $60 spend on catch, then use a kogan black card (or any other MC/VISA with points) to pay off the latitude pay balance. This is not counted as a cash advance, I have done this many times.

As long as you keep track of where all your credit is at and pay on time, then you're winning the game of credit financing… but it is a fair bit of work.

AMEX is the exception to this, BNPL doesn't seem to like any kind of AMEX cards for repayment, likely something to do with merchant charges. I'm just guessing.

You can use Amex on Afterpay now.

        • Confirmed! Wish Zip to follow soon!

        • Oh good to know! It might be time for me to open that Afterpay account now…!

Yep. Spot on. I need to churn my Amex, and use the latitude incentive too but latitude doesn't accept Amex. If the CC wasn't Amex then it would be much easier

most of amex card holders have another visa/mastercard credit card. so just use your other credit card.

    • Kogan Black beats all AmEx cards here.

      • haha.. thats so true. i own kogan money card and dont have amex.

      • How?

        • Kogan Black VISA card can be used to pay off most BNPL accounts and yield pts, but AmEx cards cant.

@Neoika: What can you do with the points?

            • +1

@brendanm: I like the neg rather than saying that you can only use it at Kogan, rendering it useless 😂

              • @brendanm: Most zero fee cards do not have reward at all, better than nothing. You can only buy things within the amout of pts you have(do not spend any more money if being really tight).

@Neoika: I'd rather have a fee and not use anything associated with Kogan personally.

          • @Neoika: You can use Amex on Afterpay now

  • amex does not support making payments outward via Bpay

    • You can use Amex with BPAY via Sniip

    BPAY always = Cash Advance

    • -1

incorrect its not if done via sniip or beem it

      • Not any more… might want to read changes to Terms on Beem it

  • i made payment to zip pay using my latitude card and it comes up as loan in description should i be concerned? all others treat it as a purchase. does anyone know if latitude cards treat this type of payment as a cash advance?
