Fortis 40kg Smart Adjustable Dumbbell (2 Pack) $299 ($289 for First Member) Delivered @ Kogan

160

Was looking for a set of adjustable dumbbells, cheapest it's ever been I believe.

Surprisingly free shipping to metro W.A for me as I could not get the dumbbells from Kogan shipped to my household before (might be linked to EOFY code)

Read in previous post on Ozbargain that there's a warning to not use overhead but I got these mainly for convenience of supersetting heavy chest press/incline and will cover overhead with my barbell.

  • Smart dumb things are tight.

    • How smart does a piece of metal you lift and put back down have to be?

  • This seems like an amazing deal considering they go up to 40kg. Any downsides apart from the potential of breakage by dropping them too hard?

    • Bulky as hell and yes you cannot drop them or hit them together hard.

I had a bowflex version of these ~10yr ago that I bought back when moving from the US.
One morning, I had one the weight unlock and fall on my toe. Thinking it was minor damage I went to RNSH as it was stone throw away to get it patched up. Ended up at RNSH for 3 nights and was unable to walk for a month, and it took me over an yr to get back to normal.

        • Yes for the love of god. Please check before and after use with these.

          Convenient and space saving? Yes.
Potential to be dangerously if misused? THROUGH THE ROOF.

    • Bulky and long - cant get that almighty squeeze at the top of a dumbell press because you cant get your hands as close as youd like. There are also rare occasions where when lifting the dumbell out of the rack, it snags a plate next to it that was not locked in, which can cause the plate to lift and drop unexpectedly (luckily its only dropped a couple cm from the rack so no toes have been smashed). And no dropping of the dumbell so of course you cant be a lunatic - i find this can be a plus if you are training to handle heavy weight safely.

  • Looks to be sold out already

    • Still available to check out for me. Do they refund you if it is sold out or something?

      • Lucky for you.

It's listed as sold out for the dumbbell pair - so I can't actually add it to cart and purchase.

  • Price goes down regularly
Paid $199 + $60 for shipping, total $259 (not a first member) on 9th of June

  • The aldi dumbell sets for $20 each would have been great (20kg per side)
