    OR… And I'm just spitballling here…

You could pay $49 for 2, with a case from Kmart

in OP's defence, the threaded stops in the Kmart set are trash. Although, I'm not sure how confident I'd be with the plastic stops in this post. But i'm not sure why you'd only get one dumbbell…

      • Threaded locks (star lock collars) are considered one of the best for adjustable weight sets; that's why most gyms use these. The kmart set looks like really good value.

I've never been to a gym with threaded bars. They're either Olympic bars that use clamps similar to this deal, or spring clips. I've never been to a gym that has adjustable dumbbells. Most have racks that go from 2kg to 50kg.
That being said, I have a very similar set at home to the Kmart set, and the threaded stops are trash.

          • @ThatYodaGuy: does the clamps and springs work on all bars (standard, olympic) and weight types ( iron, rubber, bumper)

and is there a better place to get clamps/springs and weights that are good quality like in the gym ?

          • @ThatYodaGuy: Ya I've literally never seen threaded dumbbells/bars at any gym I've been to.

      • I have the 20kg set + extra weights and the collars are fine for their rated max 7kg per side.

    ummmmm…

    • 2kg of steel for the bar, 8kg of iron for the weights, or are we making fun of the fact that steel is made from iron?

  • I think the bigger bargain is the (standard bar) cast iron weight plates — excellent value at $2 per kg for the 10 kg, and $1.75 per kg for the 20 kg.

Worth posting as a separate deal imo.
