Problem is the gas can take up to 3 months to be switched and then the cashback takes even more. So dont count on a quick few bucks then switch again.

Problem is why essential services have to be such pita. Why not have affordable, quality service. Instead, we have "competition' and you have to keep pulling your hair out wondering which, witch is a witches witch.

      • +2

If there's no competition it won't be affordable

          Well, greed wins either way.

        • +9

Essential service should be public owned and not-for-profit

@Trying2SaveABuck: Do petrol stations provide essential services? What about supermarkets? Hairdressers?

@Trying2SaveABuck: Thank the Liberals for selling it off. Sometimes they even get plum jobs in the industry after they leave politics.

@Trying2SaveABuck: They are in communist countries.

@Trying2SaveABuck: Nope. Anything government touches turns to dust.

Be careful with this one as if like me you wait untill your connected to check your cashback you may missout. I connected via the cashrewards branded page/link but it didnt track and by the time i questioned why i didnt get it the time to raise a query expired.

Ohh and now ReAmped is probably cheaper anyway

      any recommendations for gas?

Energy Australia prices are so expensive though (NSW at least)……..no idea why anyone would sign up. Not even an Australian company either.

    • +2

It's quite cheap for me not to mention the $200 cashback . Depending on where you live I suppose.

      • agree, my quick analysis reveals it is worthy of some further calcs against old bills.

        • I suppose it might come down to ones location. I am served by Ausgrid. At least we have the websites that compare energy prices based on ones current use. They help offer up the best deals.

I'm on Alinta after the previous $200 gift card deal and after a comparison, I would be paying slightly less (like a couple of $'s less) and I would get another shot at $200 cashback. I think the juice is worth the squeeze

Correct Borg, it is HK owned … but they use that big bold "Australia" in the co title to suck em in.

  • i would wait until ea offer a sign up credit as well, as they have often done in the past

  • Last time they had this offer but didn't end up getting the cashback after waiting and waiting. I'll give it a go once more and hopefully it tracks

    • last time it took about 2 moon to approve. Anyone have experience on shopback ovo energy approver time?

  • I got a offer of $50 bill credit and 25% off the market rate instead of the standard 24% as an enticement to return to them after churning to red for the qantas points. went with that because the cashback takes forever (cashrewards didn't have this upsized one going at the time) and i'd rather have the $50 now and get more churns in.

    • Do you get a credit check each time you change providers?

      • yes

  • I assumed the cashback takes so long as it goes through after your first quarterly bill is settled but I may be wrong. Those saying it takes ages to get switched over have you requested a special meter read to get it quicker, I've done that in the past

  • Just got a disappointment, I referred my sister to nectr as she complained about agl, and the 100 dollar sign up crredit coming to an end, and she signed up without using my link, costing me and her 50 each. I feel she did it deliberately because she didnt want me to get the 50

    • Cutting off the nose to spite the face.

  • I switched Gas to Energy Australia on Cashreward website and never got the cash back

    • when?

      • 6 months ago i think

  • Has anyone got this to work?

    • what do you mean?

      • Reading through the comments I only read negatives about it not tracking cashback…
But I read a past deals comments enough to go ahead and pull the trigger this morning.

I added some reminders to my calendar to check up the progress of the cb and see if I need to take any action. Hopefully it all works out.

  • When does this offer finish?

    • On Cashrewards site

      Expires: Jun 30, 2021, 11:59:00 PM

  • Signed up

    Let's see if things track

  • my energy australia tracked (still pending payment) but BWS is often a problem & I need to lodge a dispute

  • Seems like for electricity they have dropped the condition for 'Solar' customers. Does it mean solar customers can avail this offer?

  • Thanks op it worked for me got confirmation- switched from Kogan after rate increase
