That's a very expensive Vacuum Cleaner.

    • +67

I would highly recommend being rich so it's not expensive

      • +4

If only people became rich by recommendations.

        • I recommend people become rich by recommendations

      • Way too many recommendations for poor me.

  • +2

Bust be nice to have that sort of money to spend on a stick vacuum.

  • +3

2 years later battery is dead

    • +1

      Buy a new battery then??

      • -1

Buying battery? Only peasants so that.

        • Clear as mud champion.

    • +4

V6 absolute battery still going strong after 6 years of regular use.

      • +1

You are really lucky. I had two V6. Both their batteries only lasted 2 years. I also have a V7 and that battery is on the way out too after 3 years.

        • Oh ok, I thought Dyson was good with their products, even though consumable such as batteries can be a hit and miss.
Btw I bought it from Masters when they launched :D.

          • @APN Adelaide: I have a v6 and the battery was near unusable after 2 years. New battery was only $100 though and took 2 mins to replace. like new again.

            • @gavincato: Still that's not acceptable for such a costly product, I guess the v6 was in $500-$600 price range at that time.
I would expect it to go as new for at least 4-5 years and then battery degradation of 1 min per year till it needs a new battery.
That said when I get a new dyson I will buy a spare battery for V6 and keep using it for my cars.

        • +1

I've had a V6 since probably 2012 or so, and it still going strong. Would love one of the new ones with the easier to empty and larger bucket but just can't justify given the V6 is still great.

      • You must not use it much , those batteries are generally good for 2-3 years.

      • +1

        Define 'strong'

most people simply aren't aware their battery is performing worse than when they bought it.

6 years for any battery regardless of cycles is going to reduce its capacity to some degree.

        • According to me 'strong' in my vacuum world means, when its fully charged.
will clean the dust and debris when I want and I don't have to worry about anything else.
v6 have been cleaning pet hair and long hair for last 6 years, only struggle for me is in removing the long hair from internal plastic mesh.

      • Same here, V6 has never skipped a beat after 6 years. Based on this I’ll be buying another dyson when / if this dies

      • +4

The battery on my V6 died about 1 week out of the 2 year warranty and Dyson replaced it with a brand new one for free. The new one came with 2 years warranty as well. Was pretty happy with how this was handled. Sometimes paying a bit more for a premium product pays off with the support you receive 🙂

      • same, most basic v6, still going fine.

ppl complain about battery i get it. when it dies, i will just replace the batter on my own, got many half break M18 batteries from jobs.

    • +1

The V15 has a replaceable battery.

      • Most can be easily replaced.

    • +3

call dyson, sent me a new one 2 months after warranty for free. Best customer service i've seen in a while.

      • Just got a new battery 6 months out of warranty for free after quoting consumer gtees on their live chat. Ridiculous their batteries only alst 2 years though.

  • Vacuum with a weak laser gun…

  • +9

    I have this vacuum.

The new green laser display is kind of a gimmick, not very useful.

The other "tangle free" heads are very good.

The vacuum picks up a lot of dirt, especially on carpet.

I'd definitely recommend the vacuum if you can afford it.

    • +2

bought it mainly for the carpet and the tangle-free head, my wife has long hair and allergic to dust.
We're upgrading from a kmart stick vac, tired of having to clean hair jamming up the head motor every two weeks, and useless suction on carpet.

      • +2

The kmart stick may also release debris back into the air whilst vacuuming, whereas the Dyson has a filter on the top to catch majority of fine particles.

        • +1

To tag onto this for anyone interested, you can buy the hepa filter though dyson for $25. They will tell you it doesn't fit but they are telling tall ones.

          • @zmcgr1: Thanks, I was wondering about that also

      • How easy is to remove long hair from this vacuums bin?
With my V6 its a pain.

Hope tangle free heads does the job and dont require the cleaning as normal heads with long hair mess.

        • +2

I don't have a V6 so not sure how that works.

Hopefully this V15 review helps illustrate what you're after, timestamp 14:58:
          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CdK2T4F_ko

          • +2

@Ausdave: Looks better design comparing to v6, v6 has kind of a plastic mesh in which hair and thick dust gets collected.

    • +4

I thought the laser was going to be gimmicky but to my surprise I found it quite useful to pick up dust that I wouldn't have seen otherwise, especially in darker corners/under the bed etc.

    • Yeah I agree with chew_chew. I really thought the laser was going to be a gimmick and just a cool party trick. But I actually find it incredibly useful. It really does show you dust and dirt that you can’t see. Note: using the laser in lower light is much more effective. I vacuum much more slowly and carefully now and you can see the results.

It was expensive, but having a dog and a girlfriend and thick carpet I needed something to get all the hair up and this is really impressive.

    • Agree with two of the other posters here - I thought the light was marketing fluff, but I also find it pretty useful, I don't pay it much mind on the floor, it's under the couch or behind the cabinet where it really shines…. so to speak. Just shows me if I've missed anything (typically I have).

Lot of coin for a stick vacuum, If the all I'm up for is a new battery in a few years I can live with that. Has been a worth-while upgrade from my 11 year old upright Dyson.

    • their whole marketing idea is about gimmick, there are other brand that has better or similar quality for same or cheaper price but sadly people fall for the same thing over and over.. snake oil never gets old just change name..

  • +1

Go the V11 Outsize much better vacuum for this kind of money

    • +3

Have you looked at reviews? They pretty much all praise the V15 as being the best vacuum available atm.

Why do you say the V11 Outsize is better?

    • -2

You must be a big person.
I have upgraded through 5 models already, currently having V10, and can’t hold the V11 outsize for more than 2 minutes. Way to big and heavy for most people.

      • +1

I've never had another stick Dyson but for reference I've got the V11 Outsize and I'm a 60kg woman (so not a big person) and it's definitely not too heavy for me. I find it quite easy to manoeuvre.

The only thing I'd advise against is any kind of stick vacuum where you need to hold the trigger if you have athritis. I had to return one I bought for my mum for that reason.

        • Piece of velcro will fix that

      • really? my wife is all of 58kg and she happily uses the outsize as long as is needed.

      • If you cant carry that vacuum for more than 2 minutes you need to get your wrists checked I'm 6ft and 80kg I can carry it for the full 30 minutes as can my 65kg wife.

    • +1

I kinda agree, I have the v11 outsize and I like the larger head and bin. I really wanted the v15 but the smaller head(same as v15 head) that comes with outsize too takes too long and more swipes to clean an average sized room. The bigger head does the job in almost half the time.

      • +1

I agree I have the outsize and want to the v15 to have the larger head, or to be able to buy it separately. It’s so good.

I wish Dyson would release a wider hardwood floor head as well though, and can’t believe they haven’t already. I’d be able to clean large hallways/spaces so darn quickly! I use the large carpet head for it but still, I’d like both.

  • +1

Been looking at getting one, price is definitely high but worth the extra 300 dollars on the older models.

  • Don't forget to activate your Cashrewards/Shopback as well for an additional few bucks of cashback.

It won't track/work, as you are using a coupon.

    • ah..gotcha. wondering why mine didnt track. I'll update now. cheers.

  • +1

    $1130 for a vacuum?

    F**K!

  • +1

I bought this a few weeks ago with 10% off from eBay. It's a great vacuum; very powerful, lasts a long time, doesn't leave anything behind. It's expensive, but for something you use so often it might be worth it to you.

  • What's the suction power (airwatt) on this?

    • -1

      230 AW.

      The price kills the deal.

    • A good review on this vacuum, including AW at timestamp 1:40

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7B3pfS6fqHo

      • Meh.. For that price, they probably should have 300aw at least. My dreame T20 would suffice for now for quarter of the price, with replaceable battery too.

  • +2

I bought this also and is our first stick vacuum. The laser is really cool and you can see the dust you would not normally see. Is also cool to see that dust disappear after vacuuming. Must be the novelty but we are using it every night. I like vacuuming with the lights off. Comes with many accessories and hope the removable battery lasts.

    • +2

Imagine what else you can suck with the lights off……..

      • Where's the fun in that? Visual is everything mate :)

      • Boy, that escalated quickly.

      • Hahaha sounds like someone is not getting enough suction from theirs 😔

    • FML,
      for this price
Hopefully have to get 1 when on sale and then get a V15 when v16 or v17 gets released.

  • went the V8 origin for $425

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/153596850282?epid=4032159556&has…

    wanted a Xaomi, wasn't allowed

    • -1

V8 origin is a joke these days

  • I love my V11 but the one thing that is annoying is lack of control on power settings. Selectable is:
    1 eco
    2 auto
    3 high

High is horribly loud and drains battery in minutes.

In the auto mode it ramps up to higher power when on carpet automatically. This is the setting I want all the time; being ramped up when on carpet OR hard floors. I can't find a way to do this, wondering if the V15 has solved?

    • V11 owner here. Unfortunately, auto mode only works on carpet.

      • That's what I've found too, it would be perfect to have that suction on the hard floors too, it's way less effective without it, and Boost is not an option.

        • Boost is not an option

Boost used to last a lot longer, and now I will be lucky to get 10 minutes.

          • @DoctorCalculon: On Boost I would get maybe 6 mins, and it feels like it mustn't be good for the unit or battery given the noise and heat it generates.

            • @cook99: Every time I use Boost mode, I get a warning on the LED screen about battery life. Thanks Dyson.

Also, have you noticed that after a full recharge, the LED screen shows empty battery as you are vacuuming before it eventually resets back to the correct value?

    • +1

The v15 has a sensor and ramps up power when more dust is detected, sort of a way to optimise battery and suction power.

      • And it works across all surfaces. So, much better than the V11 in this regard.

  • +3

Dear Dyson, WTF happened to V12, V13 and V14? Are you just taking a page out of Apple's iPhone naming book? 😂

    • Haha. My wife swore there was a V12 but neither of us noticed a 13 or 14. It was easier to agree the 12 existed 🙃

      • +1
        • +1

Turns out she was right. As always. Dammit

      • Yeah there is a V12. Think it’s the V12 slim. It’s basically a little V15. Has a smaller barrel and has a on/off button (not a trigger) and slightly less suction. It still has the laser and fluffy roller head, and I think it comes with the same attachments. It’s only a little bit cheaper than the V15, but maybe for some people (older people especially) the V12 may be better as it’s lighter and doesn’t have a trigger you need to constantly press.

  • Is it just me or soemthing but I think the lasery gimmick would only barely just work on hard floors. On carpets which i assume most people have its useless

    • +2

It does only work on hard floors. This comes with two heads, a normal torque head (for carpet) and the fluffy roller head (for hard floors - with the laser). So the head you would use for carpet doesn’t have the laser.

But, I would say it works better than you may think. I’ve been really impressed with how much the laser shows. I clean much better now as you can see stuff you wouldn’t normally be able to. Even if you didn’t have hard floors this is a good vacuum, but yeah a bit expeno.

  • +1

Thanks OP - the sucking power will keep my wife happy.

    • +1

guaranteed scammer. been there done that and got my refund after 3 weeks.
      Please do not click buy

      • +1

You purchased from them and they didn't have the vacuum?

        • 110% sure mate. those are bogus accounts and transactions.
I had to ring Paypal and involve ebay to arrange all my refunds. the seller ran away.

  • +2

I notice appliances online has suddenly removed Perth metro from their Ebay store. You can still buy things from their main website and get free Perth metro shipping. Wonder why they have decided to do this.

  • I've just seen the miele stick vac, imo it has some handy features (stands up on its own if you need to pick up something) has an on off button switch vs trigger button and is a heck of a lot cheaper (currently 20% @ bing Lee)

I've been happy with my v11 the tangle free brush is amazing for hair (literally never gets tangled) but last week the trigger button failed after 12 months use. Dyson sent me out a whole new unit (minus canister and filter) as the trigger is all integrated here's hoping it doesn't fail once out of warranty (my sisters V10 trigger button failed a few weeks ago also!)

  • -2

Just wondering if anyone can afford it !

    • minimum wage in australia is about 3.2k per month. Minimum living costs is about 1.7k. So most people probably?

  • +3

I bought the V15, I got it on a special discount from Dyson as my upright vacuum went in for repair and they offered a 15% discount for the V15. I also have the V8…. We love the V8, but not powerful enough and the battery life wasn’t enough for the whole house. WE love the light detector especially my husband who really couldn’t see the dirt and dust he was missing and now he can see it… it does work better in the dimmer light and does not work on carpet. I have had issues with Dyson products a number of times over the years and they are very helpful and have replaced parts and batteries even a few months out of warranty for no charge. I am keeping both the V8 and V15 as now I get to wash the filters and still have the other to use while the filters dry. ( i will probably buy a replacement filter for cleaning purposes). My daughter now loves having the V8 upstairs as its very convenient. Dyson are easy to pull apart for cleaning.

  • Will the laser blind my dog?

    • +4

the laser is raised 7mm off the floor and angled 1.5° degree down to the floor. If your dog put their eyeball on the floor and look at the laser dead on it'd be pretty blinding for 'em.

    • +7

No it will perform corrective laser eye surgery on your dog.
Your dog will gain perfect 20/20 vision and it will leave you and become a guide dog for the blind.

Just talking from my own experience here… We miss you Fido..
