Bluetooth Range Based Bracelets?

I have a dream.

I go out with the kids and we wear our Bluetooth bracelets. If one of the kids moves beyond 3m from me, the bracelet vibrates so I can make pre-emptively prevent them from getting lost or dyeing.

Does such a thing exist??

Unsure but I had the wired version as a child.

🤔 knot a Tile to a string and tie that around the wrist?

  • Theres a buddytag but you get alerts via mobile… rather not walk around being slave to phone =/

    • It would still require a host device unless you want them to wear a ankle monitor.

      • It would be possible to create a host band + slave bands right?

Or, just maybe, you closely interact with your kids and no concerns then.

What's wrong with coloured kids, anyway?

    • This is true… It does make them easier to spot

      • In the Hills District, most likely yes.

If you don't want to be a slave to technology.

    • Never!

What colour would you prefer to dye your children?

    • nah op wants to not dye them I think, I reckon purple would look good

    • If OP is celebrating Holi (Festival of Colours) with the kids, they are sure to get a dye in multiple colours :)

Great idea for parents who can't control their children or can't be bothered watching them.

See them all the time in shopping centres, children running riot and screaming, while their parents congregate in a large group impeding other shoppers.

I'd hate to think that the children are given dye to play with though.

Let them get lost a couple of times so they know not to get lost themselves?
I remember my mom "trained" me like this - after getting lost a couple of times as a 4-6 year old I would never let go of my sight of mom due to fear of getting lost again.

Eh, but who knows, nowadays this is probably considered "child abuse" and will likely end you up in jail or something, so proceed with caution. God forbit children develop a sense of responsibility at an early age, that is just down right illegal!

Tech can be unreliable, especially Bluetooth — even a smartwatch made for adult's use can occasionally disconnect and fail to maintain a connection with your mobile phone.

That said there are smartwatches that come with geofencing but many of them are no-name and have crappy smartphone apps that barely work.

Or, you know, you could just teach/train your children? To many people these days don’t want to interact with their children and just want a pill, a device or another person to “take care of/fix it”.

A wrist band isnt going to fix the underlying problem of them running outside the “mommy/daddy radius”. You are looking at a bandaid solution for a symptom and not trying to fix the cause.
