Osprey Porter 30 (Black) $109.95 Shipped @ The Frontier (Crows Nest NSW)

100

Was looking for an option for an 'everyday' carry type of back back. Not too big, not too small. Enough to carry a 13 inch laptop/ IPAD, water bottle, umbrella, and option to store a sweater or picnic blanket - with options for organization of all of above. The Frontier seem to have the best pricing out of anyone in Australia at the moment.

Spent ages researching options and repeatedly, osprey porter 30 seemed to be hitting the top recommendations (and was actually available in Australia unlike 80% of the other options mentioned on forums/reddit).

The other options I was considering was:
Bellroy Melbourne
Kathmandu Litehaul
North face Borealis

Osprey Porter official description:
With padded sidewalls, convenient organization and a substantial suspension for backpack-style carry that disappears when checking bags, the Porter Series has set the standard for deluxe duffels. This season brings a relocated and dedicated zippered laptop and tablet pocket—and functional storage options for items both big and small—with multiple access points. When a duffel isn’t enough and backpacking bags are too much, the Porter is the answer.

Add Timbuk 2 Spire Laptop Backpack to your list, recommend it. Regularly discounted to $99.

They have others on sale too: https://www.timbuk2.com/collections/sale

    • Awesome - but I think i kinda sold myself on the porter as I like the idea of the compartment that opens all the way out for access.

Yep. From experience through multiple trips with the porter opening all the way is a very handy thing.

  • Looks good.

  • Osprey has a fantastic warranty some of the other brands that get mentions are far more expensive by comparison and the warranty of Osprey is fantastic.
Not a fan of Kathmandu products

    • Nice good to know.
I’m still split between this and waiting a bit for north face borealis to go sub $120

    • Yes Osprey damn good service. Bought one from overseas when I got back it had a seam that unstitch bigtime. Contacted the local distributor, show them all the necessary paperwork and it got repaired.

  • Seems to be sold out?

    • Yeah mate shows over. I didn’t end up grabbing one as now thinking I might prefer the north face borealis…
