Gas Stove Burners Not Lighting Properly

Just moved into a new apartment and one of my burners doesn't ignite properly. Figured someone might know if I'm just missing something simple before I go and call for repairs?

This is what happens when I try to ignite

I tried to use a lighter to see if that worked and then it just ends up like this

Here is a disassembled photo, I've taken the plates and stuff off and re-assembled a dozen times in case it wasn't lined up, but still no avail.

Reckon this is something busted inside the actual stove itself?

EDIT: musthazbargains figured it out. The bloody black disks were swapped. Works now

  • Good work on pulling it apart first. I would've suggested try cleaning it but seems you've done that. Please do post back when you figure out what the issue was

Sorry can't help. Try YouTube tutorials?

    • I've pulled it apart and poked the holes with a toothpick but didn't clean anything else. Is it ok to dump these in water with soap etc?

      • Yes I just checked YouTube and people clean these with soapy water and hard bristled toothbrush. Send to fix it for most people

Check musthazbargains post, he figured it out hahaha

It seems like the flow of gas out of that head is blocked and gas isn't flowing evenly through each of the little holes. Try poking and cleaning each of those holes with a toothpick to clear it out any old grease that might be stuck in there?

    • Tried the toothpick but same result

Try run it under hot water for a few minutes (to melt any old grease) or blow it with an air duster? The gas seems to be coming up fine, but just not flowing through that whole head evenly.

  • It could be that the gas is not coming out uniformly at the outlet. Have you tried using a toothpick or something similar there?

Looks like the middle black disk is the wrong one, swap it with the one on the front right burner.

    • Oh my god, this was actually it. I spent the last couple hours trying to fix this and they were just the wrong way around.

      Thanks mate you're a lifesaver.

I'm actually wondering how this came to be though. Did the last tenants just do this to mess with me or what lol

probably the last tenants didn't put them back in place after cleaning in sink etc just tossed them anywhere

        • Yep easy mistake if they'd cleaned it on exiting.

        • Yeah I guess if that's the case I can't really blame em if they were at least bothered to give them a clean. Made me look like a fool for a while though hah
