  • Do people get these rewards on Qantas altitude cards? I never get any

    • +2

Yes, I can see it on my Qantas Altitude Platinum

FYI, the actual membership fee is $48.99. It could be a trap as it cant reach $49.

      The actual step bit says:

      STEP 2
Spend minimum $48 at eBay Plus

  • Damn, I've been targeted - but my membership renews next month! I wonder if there's a way to pay for the membership in advance…

    • -1

      Create a new ebay account.

      • +1

Was hoping to stack with the $20 giftcard for renewing my membership too. For anyone else interested - its not possible to renew memberships in advance unfortunately.

  • It's a bit different to mine

Same here. No mention of annual fee.

    • +1

The second last line of the offer details - "Offer valid only for eBay Plus annual membership."

      • yep only to ebay plus member that pay annually instead of monthly

        • Shouldn't it say "members" instead of "membership" then? Or "annual membership required", "only ebay plus members", etc? The current wording sounds more like is for the membership purchase.

          • @dcypher: I think it is for the membership purchase.

  • Can I use this deal to buy eBay gift card?

    • +3

Can you try and let us know? Thanks.

Question is :is eBay plus still worthwhile?

    • Yeah wondering if 29 bucks is worth it

  • Would it be better a $50 voucher for the next ebay plus shopping?

    • Stackable

  • +2

As far as I understand, this offer only apply IF you are an ebay plus member (annual), not to purchase the actual membership. You can spend $49 or more in a single transaction (you can buy anything). Please correct me if I am wrong.

    • correct

    • +1

I don't think it's that clear. The start of the deal sounds like that, but the end sounds like paying for membership.

Also, how would Westpac know from a transaction ID that you were an eBay plus member?

Whereas buying a membership can go through a different payment processor.

      • I think it is made quite clear at the end. It is intended only to purchase a membership. Whether they would know if you purchased a GC is another issue that we may not know the answer to unless someone actually does it, for the greater good. I have used these deals to purchase Myer, Coles, Liquorland and DJ GC so maybe it would.

Just bought an item for $49.95, will update when i got $20 back from westpac

    • Any updates with $20back?

    • updates on cashback? I am wondering if it is valid for purchase item on ebayPlus?

      • I would think they won't get it as it will be just for eBay plus membership.

    • +2

It's been over a week, and I haven't got any cash back from westpac on item that I bought.

      • +2

Thanks for letting us know appreciated

    • I got $10 cashback from westpac buying Fitbit 4charge on the other deal from JB hifi. And it only take 3 days to shown on my cc statement.

    • bought an item for $49.95

      what was the transaction description?

      "EBAY.COM.AU/CC 888-749-3229" ?

      • Sorry, where can you find the above?

        • On your CC statement …

  • Anyone have updates on their cashback?
I isn't due til next month so I'm going to renew on 1st of Augest for my different account.

  • I signed up on 16/7 and the membership activated immediately. I even got and spent my $5 monthly voucher. However, no sign of the membership fee on my Westpac card. Only just yesterday, I received my monthly invoice on my eBay account. So it looks like if you've got an eBay seller account they roll up the payment in with your monthly invoice.

So therefore while I don't think that you can pay for an items with this deal and get the cashback, maybe you can use it to pay off sekker fees??? Just a hunch, don't quote me on it.

  • Anyone else seeing all the Rewards and Offers having disappeared completely from their account? I had this one before (checked just before signing up), but now it's not listed. My Rewards and Offers section is completely empty.

    • Mine are all there

  • +1

Anyone actually received cashback for this promo?

    • Also interested to know. Esp as hearing people being billed $48.99 instead of $49. I know it says step 2 is spend $48, but it’s conflicting with the T&C.

  • I signed up 17th July for eBay Plus membership. still nothing showing up on my Westpac account, not even pending transaction.

    • any luck mate?
      I just signed up now…

      • nothing showing yet

        • It has been 7 days for me, nothing showing up.

  • I made a purchase on Ebay using my Westpac card on 8th June, i have a 12 month Ebay Plus membership so qualified for the cashback which in their terms and conditions states $20 cashback will be credited to account within 7 days! I phoned Westpac 11 days after purchase as i had not received the cashback and no cashback pending was showing on my statement, the operator said she would transfer my call to Westpac Extras team, I spoke to a guy who said he would have to transfer me to another department, then phone went dead! called back and same thing happened again! 2 days later i called again and explained my situation to another Westpac staff member, she was more helpful and said it usually takes a month (not 7 days as stated in terms and conditions) she then guaranteed my cashback would be credited to my account within 2 business days… that was 5 business days ago and still not showing in my account. I mean how hard is it to change their terms and conditions to reflect the real timeframe cashback will be credited and to also show something in account that says cashback pending so you know it's actually being processed!!!! Westpac you need to get your act together, not a happy customer!

    • +1

Usually the cashback done within 7 days and if not, I would lodge a complaint at their website form and someone will call within a few days. That what I would usually do.

    • Any luck mate?
I will probably have to start this mission tomorrow.

  • +1

I lodged a complaint on July 19th and have had no phone call as yet, i have given up, not calling them again, will just sit and monitor my account to see if the cashback appears but not feeling confident at all and there customer service is abysmal to say the least.

So my eBay plus was due for renewal in July. Adjusted the payment method for eBay plus to the Westpac credit card ready for this deal.

However eBay didn't bill my card, they added it to an invoice and the invoice will be paid by paypal in the middle of August. Weird and useless.

  • +1

Yeah same here. Except mine was due to be paid "between 30 July - 3 Aug" or thereabouts, and to date still nothing has shown up on my card. Yeah, whoever thought up this offer likely had no idea how eBay works, or they did and it's a total scam.

  • +1

yeh, sucks.. seems like the charge will be done when eBay invoices and i.e. would mean passing the Westpac spend qualifying period.
but sort of still works out ok, got a $50 on sign up and a $30 when trying to cancel the eBay plus.

You're a valued member of eBay Plus and we'd love to keep you in the program. Would you consider staying?

  • This was a surprise.. great customer service Westpac, thank you.

    Raised a complaint, $50 refunded.

Please rest assure our Extras Partnership Managers are constantly in discussion with our Rewards team to improve the offers and the fulfilment of such offers to our customers.
Thank you again for bringing this matter to our attention and please do not hesitate to contact us directly on 132 032 available 8am-8pm 7 days if you have any further concerns.

    • Nice one. Well if eBay actually charged me then I'd complain too, but to date no charge has appeared on my card yet. No point bitching and moaning to Westpac about it since I'm not even out of pocket, LOL. But once the charge does come through I may have to also submit a complaint due to the terms of the offer being impossible to meet (due to eBay, mind you).

      • eBay will have added to an invoice as above. Which is being billed to PayPal.

I specifically went into the eBay plus section and changed it to use my Westpac card and it didn't work.

        • Yeah same. We're in the same boat. I wonder if I changed my payment method again just before the 15th whether it'll defer it to the next invoice period again…

    • Wow they gave you your $50 back and you get to keep your ebay plus subscription?
Nice win! I complained and got the $20 added to my CC.

  • Westpac support was bollocks. Got the runaround from Rewards team to Digital team and back to Rewards team. In the end they manually processed a $20 refund back to my card, but only after having to stress how frustrating it was to get ping ponged between departments.

Looking at the similar comments in the Commbank version of this offer, what a complete balls-up from eBay Plus. Worst. Program. Ever.

My ebay plus membership was due to be auto renewed on the 24th of July and i had changed my card details to my Wespac card.

I checked my ebay plus membership the day on the 25th and sure enough, the membership was renewed for another year but nothing was recorded on my Westpac CC. It was finally appeared on my CC transaction on 7th of Aug, well after the promotion ended. frggen ebay

  • Credit where credit is due, my eBay Plus fee was charged on 5th August, and today I noticed in my internet banking that there's a corresponding entry also dated 5th Aug for EBAY PLUS 888-749-322 AUS.

It doesn't look like the "manual refund" that I was supposedly going to get from the support agent, which seems not to have materialised in the timeframe promised (and I was not looking forward to having yet another phone conversation with them).

Glad I can call it a day with this one. One of the most annoying cashback experiences ever.

    • I just checked and mine turned up too.

  • I got my cashback as well. I did end up calling them, so I'm not sure whether the call was what did it, or I would have received the cashback either way…
