DeWALT 18V XR 3.0Ah Hedge Trimmer Cordless Kit (with 3Ah Battery) $249 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ Bunnings

230

This battery hedge trimmer had been $329 about a month ago and has slowly dropped to $249. Been looking out for a deal on this for ages, not as good as some last year but not too bad.

Only a couple of cons - not the brushless version and only a 3Ah battery. I have bought it anyway as I have a 4Ah battery already (with a chainsaw and blower).

55cm dual action, laser cut blades with 19mm cutting gap and hardened steel for longer life and lasting sharpness
Compact and lightweight design for less user fatigue whilst trimming.
Wrap around AUX handle for comfortable grip in multiple locations.
1 x 3.0ah battery included
Hooked-tooth guard blade for fast branch cutting . Safety lock - controlled/fast actuation. Lightweight and compact design. 2.9kg minimises stress on users arm during use.

  • :-( @ kit.
I regularly visit Bunnings looking for a skin-only markdown after this total stuff up - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/531490
    Is brushed a con ?

  • Bought the ozito instead as I gave up on waiting, dewalt needs to bring out a better newer version for top dollar.

I have 4 Ozito tools, have had to try and return every one of them on warranty within a year. And somehow the 4AH battery on the Ozito drill lasts less than half the time of the 4AH battery on my DeWalt drill.
I've decided in future just to save up the money for the DeWalt tools, and get them on sale.

      • I've found that DeWalt batteries last a long time in general. I've got several dating from 2014 that still hold a good level of charge, even when used with angle grinders etc.

I can't comment on Ozito but my Ryobis only seem to last about 4 years before they're ready for the bin.

With both I normally leave them in the garage beer fridge when not in use. Batteries in general last longer in cool conditions!

I'm doing the same with DeWalt - buying them when on special incl from Amazon US.

      • yeah dewalt batteries seem to be very good … also have ryobi which also seem to have alot of luck with as well, but dewalt is definitely a step above.

the only problem with dewalt is there doesnt seem to be much competition, wish it was easier to import.

  • Not that great. Sometimes mechanical trigger switch is dodgy and won't engage. Unit is actually on the heavy side to use. Then again i only have 5a and 6a batts. Went back to my trusty wired Makita. I just use the DeWalt in hard to reach places.

  • Not avail in store / click and collect or delivery in any Canberra stores. Not sure why can't order it either which is a shame as I'd go for this?
