Anyone Purchased Recently a Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Carbon i5-1135G7

I have purchased yesterday a Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Carbon i5-1135G7 brand new from TGG. The Lenovo box was sealed with the Lenovo sticky tape. Inside the box was a smaller Lenovo box with the laptop in it. This box was sealed in shrink-wrap. You would assume there is a brand new laptop inside it. After opening both boxes and having a look at the laptop i noticed a few scratches all over the screen.

I contacted TGG where i purchased the computer and they have been excellent. They replaced it with another, identical unit and offered me to inspect it at the time of purchase. The computer guy from the store and i opened the box which was factory sealed. Inside, again, another shrink wrap wrapped Lenovo box and the laptop inside. As you would expect. However, when we removed the laptop from the box we both noticed a mark on the screen and lots of dust on the unit. Knowing that there are hardly any left i decided to take it, despite the small issues.

When i got home i ran the updates and the Lenovo vantage software checked for updates on their server. And now it gets funny. The computer was activated last year in November and has a bit over four months of warranty left. Again, this was a brand new and factory-sealed computer until today. There is no way TGG would have manipulated the packaging so it must have been shipped out like that from Lenovo.

The question now is, who has purchased the same laptop lately, especially from the good guys? Have you checked the warranty for it? If not, please check your warranty for it, it literally takes just seconds, and report here your results. One refurbished unit sold as new and i would think it is an honest mistake. Two from the same store is already strange. But if there are even more than that someone needs to look into this.

Thank you

  • Probably not much help but I purchased the same laptop from Officeworks during the last sale on ozb (last month-ish) and from what I know, saw, and checked, I got a new unit (packed in the same way you mentioned but without any marks, dust, or any other indication that it wasn't new). So not all of the slim 7i laptops come like yours, at the very least.

    Great laptop for the price.

    • Could you please check the remaining warranty for your unit?

  • -1

Lenovo only have a 12 month warranty on their Carbon series?

Statutory warranty for a laptop in that price class is at least 2 years.

    • I am aware of that but my brand new unit shows only 4 months of warranty.

  • Hi OP, I just bought one from TGG also, looks brand new but says <3 months warranty using the checker..
