Lian Li New Build Extra Fans Issue

Finally lashed out to up grade my old pc and build a new gaming pc.

I've built a few in the past for myself and decided to go the lian D011 white case look build, with the lian li galahad 320 IO cooler with 3 fans and a two 3 pack st120 lian li fans to have 9 fans all up in the case, lots of you tube vids on this type of build (looks pretty sic). Anyways, cannot for the life of me get all fans working all at once. Fans are flicking (RGB NOT WORKING PROPERLY) and rgb on the IO is not coming on at all.

Contacted lian li support, service seemed to be great and sales manager is sending me out a new IO after I sent pics of my connections on MB.

So the st120 lian li fans comes with a splitters and a modular to connect 6 fans together and I'm connecting both mods to be able to run 6 fans plus the 3 fans on the IO in one loop.

I ask the lian li support is there a mod that can run up to 10 fans in the one connection like my old build with cheap fans had. Apparently lian li don't do one and he also said that you can only run 6 fans of the 5v 3pin header on the mb and I need to plug the other 3 in another 5v 3pin header as it will cause the rgb lights to flicker and not work properly even if I use there 5v 3pin splitter

I've bought the Asus x570 pro gaming MB and just my luck, there is only 1 5v 3pin header on it.

So it seems like, that's it!! I can't have 9 lian li fans from this MB and lian li set up.

Anyone finds this wrong/weird?

Cheers guys.

  • buy a splitter or a new mobo

  • You need to use a fan controller for all non galahad fans, and the aio cooler fans plug into the mobo for max power.

  • This isnt weird or worrying at all. Just the standard nuances of building a new system. Also, your post is littered with referencing mistakes and makes it confusing AF to read, but I'm assuming you're having issued with the ARGB side of things.

According to the specs, the ARGB header on the Asus Tuf x570 can support 500 LEDs, but has a max power rating of 3A/5V. I'm assuming Lian Li recommended a maximum of 6 fans because each fan has 12 LED's and if they each LED drew roughly 40mA, then 72 LED's x42ma = ~3A. Any more and the motherboard can't supply enough juice to power the additional LEDs, hence the flickering.

You'd need to look into an LED hub with a separate power source; something like this

Anyhow, its all just part and parcel when building a new system. good luck!~

Edit~ Wasnt allowed to post a link to the hub on Amazon
