Some of the PS4 Hits titles have dropped to $9. Even cheaper than the $11 and $10 deals we saw a couple months ago for Days of Play and Toy Mania.

Edit: Discovered they were $9 at Target previously. Probably an old price match for that. Edit 2: These were $8 for prime in Prime Day, see here. Thanks venomx2.

For anyone who still hasn't played God of War, it's a must play. For $9 it's a steal

      • It has a deep story, are you sure it is the God of War 2018 and not the previous installments

          • +1

@choodi: Curious, which game do you recommend for story then :)

            • -1

              @otter-raptor: Last of Us

              • +3

@fuzor: Two different genre and both are impressive, they both are in the top choice for me as well

              • -1

@fuzor: The Last of Us is like a C-grade zombie flick with some terrible teen angst thrown in. The fact that people think it's something special shows how terrible video games are in the storytelling stakes.

            • -3

@otter-raptor: If in being honest, none. Most kids books have better character development than video games and a more in depth exploration of social and personal issues. Video games are just not a very good story telling medium and most people who wrote for them are not very good story tellers.

              • @choodi: Apples and oranges my friend, I read a ton of books too and I don't expect video games to have same character progression or plot progression mainly because it will start to be boring

They're very different mediums for very different type of engagement.

You still haven't said which game meets your high standard though :)

                • @otter-raptor: Well, like I said, not really any of them. However, Metroid Prime certainly had an interesting take on storytelling in games.

                  • @choodi: Oh well then games may not be your cup of tea, good thing we all have different stuff to keep us out of lockdown blues

                    • @otter-raptor: I have literally been playing games since the Atari 2600. Maybe I just have higher standards in storytelling to people raised during the PlayStation generation.

                      • @choodi: Nah man. You're just giving off r/iamverysmart vibes tooting your own horn lol

          • +9

@choodi: You obviously haven't played it, boy

            • @DopeOxide: I obviously have. I'm just obviously not as easily impressed as you.

          • +1

@choodi: Totally agree with your sentiment

        • I am the type who goes on the internet and reads about the lore. eg. WoW or GoW. It's hard getting into a game anymore and invest hours and hours into it.

      • +11

Not sure why you've got so many negative votes. I couldn't play it as well.

        • +1

Try runic build next time if melee bored you. The game has a good arc

        • +5

Same here. Found it terribly annoying. Main character was a pain, the boy was a pain, the upgrade system was unnecessarily complicated, etc.

The visuals were amazing though, I'll give it that.

          • +6

@Mellows: Guess you three are in minority. I loved every aspect of it. Easily my favourite PS4 game (and I haven't played any of the previous GoW games)

      • +1

I've started God of War but didn't get much more than 30 minutes into it. I will return to it, mostly because i've sent it get near universal praise, but I'm glad that i've seen the occasional negative post about the game because it reminds me that it's OK not to enjoy these mostly lauded games.

Personally I struggled with God of War 2 and gave up of GoW 3 maybe 1/3 or half way through. I did get to the last battle of Ascension, which I very much enjoyed, but the impossibility of that last battle scuppered everything.

If I get bored when I do get round to try God of War again I'll unashamedly quit and not think twice about it.

        • Just so you know, God of War has very little in common with the earlier entries in the series in terms of game play. Don't expect an arcadey beat-em-up.

    • +2

It's also free on the PS5 PS+ Collection if you have that already. Saves $9 for something else.

      • +1

        Not free

    • +2

I recently played through 1-3 for the first time just to play GOW18 and infact I was left underwhelmed. I guess I stand in line with some of the old school fans.

  • +1

I think these were $8 last month on Amazon.

    • Ah yes you are right, found it here. Prime Day deal.

It didn't show in camels as I think it involved a checkbox coupon to discount it.

  • +8

Thanks. Bought GT Sport because I need a racing game and it's a long wait for GT7.

    • +1

      Same same

  • Just get a PS5 and most of these are free!

    • +3

Wow that's a bit rich. $9 or $500 to play for free.

      • +14

bruhz if you've got the hookup for $500 PS5 you best get spilling the beans!

    • +1

How does one get God of War on PS5 for free?

      • +1

If you have PS Plus, you get access to the PS Plus collection which has 20ish games all for free on PS5

        • +3

Thanks for that. Don't play online so these $9 deals might be cheaper for me!

          • +3

@[Deactivated]: Neither do I, but the monthly games they include are worth it to me when you can get the subscription for cheap, plus the 20 with the PS5. I wouldn't have purchased a Plague's Tale PS5 version, but I think it looks great and seems to have a good story too, not far into it yet.

  • +1

    Thanks bought two games

  • +2

If the placement of the space in "PS Hits" was one space to the left it would be very unflattering.

  • What’s gt sport like? I don’t play online and last played the original on ps.

  • Why is god of war coming up as $12.48 For me ?

    • Looks like it and infamous is expired. Will update when i can.

  • +1

With the graphical difference between PS4 and PS5 being so small compared to console upgrades of yore, a PS4 with some cheap games like this is amazing value, and plays some of the best exclusive games currently available.

    • +1

Yes, but the 30 fps to 60 fps makes the gaming experience phenominally better.

    • +3

Which is why getting a digital only console is madness. Buy and own a physical copy of the game for $9 that installs faster than any network allows, or own nothing and download it for the sale price of $11.

  • GT Sport sold out :(
