Any Recommendations on Online Sofa Stores?

Have anyone had positive experiences from online stores that deliver sofas? I'm usually the type that would purchase something like that in person, but I'm in an unusual situation described below. I'm looking at the Koala Coastal Sofa and the Castlery Pebble Sofa. I'm leaning towards the Castlery one, but while reviews on the store are overall good there are a few reviews on the sofas which stated they had questionable quality.

The context behind this is that I purchased a new house recently and started some initial furnishing, but due to work I've had to fly into a COVID hotspot for four days and am required to quarantine for 14 days upon returning home. Worst yet, I'm set to go back into that hotspot after I finish that quarantine which means it's very likely I'm staring down 30+ days of quarantine in total.

I've got a TV - but nothing to sit on to watch it. It's a little nauseating thinking of possibly doing 30+ days of quarantine without something semi comfortable to sit on.

  • Still enjoying my modular sofa from https://www.kingliving.com.au/ 10 years on. Lots of handy storage too.

    • If I didn't have to do quarantine I would probably go with them, but their lead times are way too long unless I want to do the 30 day quarantine without a sofa.

      • You could call your nearest store and see what they have in stock ready to go. But yeah, I didn't think about how long it takes.

        • My missus bought a kingliving modular and it was hideous and cost a fair price too.
They really arent made for comfort for taller people. I hated it

          • @MickMonk: Each to their own I suppose. I lay on mine rather than sit on it. Because it's configurable there's many ways to make it comfortable.

  • Our couches are from Brosa and we really like them. Service was good too. However, if they don't have stock on hand of what you want the lead times can be huge. I think we waited 19 weeks (which they told us would be the case so we went in eyes open).

  • yeah Ive bought from castlery reasonably happy for the price I paid TBH.

  • +1

Maybe order the sofa that you really need, and get a bean bag in the interim. Sofa will last for a long time. Probably best to get something that you will be happy to see and use for that time.

  • Koala offer a risk-free 120-night trial so if you buy the Koala sofa and don’t like it, you can return it for a full refund. This fits in with your at home quarantine timeframes and if you return the Koala sofa, you can then get the Castlery which has a 14 day return period or hopefully try it instore, covid health orders permitting.

  • November last year, after wasting a lot of time trying different sofas around Melbourne, and finding that most of them are too bulky for my taste, or not comfortable, or too expensive, I went back to Plush and chose the Santa Monica. I am very happy with the sofa. In addition to the usual discount, I paid everything using egift cards (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/discounted_egift_cards) without problems.

The problem is the long wait (2~3 months) for everything that is custom made. My sofa was delivered in January, which was not too bad for the season.

I like the Pebble style, and I could buy it online if I were in a similar situation and didn't want to wait too long. It does have a 5-year warranty for the frame, 2 years for foam/fabric/leather. That's reasonable.

    There is this Ikea one:

I tried this Ikea in store. It's fine, but some online reviews suggest that they use extra filling in-store but the one they deliver is not as comfortable.

  • Try Costco online. I am very happy with my purchases and their deliveries are quick.
