Worth noting the metal case casioak is releasing next month (in Japan).

I saw that. I wish they'd have given it solar.

        Agreed, hold me off

Watched a video on it last night. Supposedly will retail for $529 in Australia.

oh crap, there goes my money.

      • Damn… the grey one looks sweet!

      • still no lume on the indices :\

Casio mini oak is also going to be released soon ! Great for ppl looking for a smaller case dimension

    • It's already been released, but marketed as a women's line. I've been eyeing the white one.

      • I reckon the rose gold hands were a mistake, really limited the appeal of some colours.

        • Yeah, I wasn't a big fan of the colour range. I think only the white was nice - and even then that has silver markers.

        • I'd be all over it if there is a all black stealth version

    • perfect for the ladies.

Or those of us with small lady wrists.

  • Not the cheapest it's ever been, but still a very good price

What's the cheapest price this has ever been?

  • +3

    God tier

  • Thanks OP been eyeing one of these for a while :)

  • cant wait for that silver one to go on sale for 200

  • And the party's over.

  • I wouldn’t ever buy at surfstitch. Friends had a really bad experience with them.

    • +1

I've only ever had good experiences with them. Shipping is quick and returns (unless it was a clearance item) are super easy and free. They also sent me a roll of TP during the 2020 lockdown TP fiasco.

What is a nice feature about this watch other than being Casio?

    • Styling cues from Audemar Piguet Royal Oak has given it a bit of a cult following in the short amount of time that it's been around.

    • it's really light despite being large and bulky-looking. it's one of only two g-shocks that's appealed to me so far.

      • What’s the other one?

        • +1

          dw5600

          • @tdw: The classic. Also wears smaller than case size suggests.

      • Actually wears smaller than the case size suggests. It's nice.

        • i agree. there's a little bit of lug overhang on my wrist but i'm not bothered.

bigger issue is readability….like when i was at the shop yesterday and an elderly lady asked me if i had the time so she could fill in the contact tracing register. "yeah…sure…umm….2.40pm." so awkward lol.

          • @tdw: Yep…I just go by the analogue hands. I don't even try to read the digital display unless I have to.

      • So one of the key selling point is it is light. Are there other features that makes it appealing? There are some nice looking watches on ebay for $30 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/283528401494?hash=item42039c1256…

        • +1

for g-shocks in general, the main selling point is actually it's durability.
i personally liked the understated looks of the ga2100 series compared with other g-shocks, while the watch you linked to……doesn't quite do it for me. also note the water resistance of the g-shock's 200m vs 30m ebay watch.

          • @tdw: Yes, now I understand why G shock is expensive, valuable and popular.

  • Damn, I've been wanting one of these. Cant believe I missed it. Thanks for posting
