    Bribes for "Likes"?

    • I'm no fan of Telstra in any way, shape or form but this isn't unusual activity for a business. I'd hardly consider it a bribe, maybe a good bargain?

    • +2

Isn't that the primary Facebook marketing model for businesses (logitechshop as an example)?

At least you don't have to tag a picture of the T - lol :)

    • +3

Yes we cannot prevent merchants from asking for Facebook likes. It's one of their marketing ground as some said. However they are not allowed to request OzBargain +1's, either here or on other social media sites.

      • Telstra ad here but don't answer ozbargainers quires, not a nice practice!

    • -2

yep a bribe and absolutely sick to death of companies expecting their customers to join them on facebook when not everyone wants to be part of such a network. But a fake facebook is handy for such things.

      • +3

expecting their customers to join them on facebook when not everyone wants to be part of such a network

I dont think any company is 'expecting' you to join them on facebook, no ones pointing a gun to your head. Imo its simply an offer. You win some you lose some- whether its worth it is up to you.

  • +2

Thanks for connecting with us. As long as you meet our eligibility criteria, we’ll email your $10 BigPond® voucher to you within one month.

    Odd?

  • +4

Mr Rep. Can you offer something worthwhile like $100 free bill credit?

    • Is that the price for your "like"?

  • Good deal, but no idea why it takes a month to receive the voucher, similar promotions with 7/11 ect. give you the voucher immediatly.

  • +2

Telstra "Outsourced" 24x7 … nothing to like about that

  • +2

Hi ozblogger: Telstra 24x7 is supported round the clock by our team based in Adelaide. Gerd

    • +5

suggestion to Telatra Rep - please don't get too annoyed at us Telstra customers who are p15sed off about how much of Telstra's customer service team IS overseas. It does make it a LOT harder to deal with your employer.

      OK - rant over now

      Issues with Telstra Customer Reps:

      • Inconsistent outcome talking to reps in the same team (some are good and some are just awful).
      • Tendency to transfer calls between departments (and back and forth in a loop).
      • When a case is raised, the case manager does not contact you promptly.

Main issue I have to Telstra (and also Optus):

      • Don't really care about old customers. They spend their efforts on new customers.
      • If you've got a serious complaint with Telstra raise a complaint with the industry ombudsman. Telstra will assign a customer service rep. to work with you until the issue is resolved.

If you just want to have a general moan about the company, then stick to web forums where the only people who care are others with similar complaints but also can't be bothered actually doing something about it.

      • -5

optus care, they knocked off $20 for 6 months from my plan. when i said i'm going elsewhere.
problem is that you are not on a high enough plan for them to care.

      • +1

I'd agree with your first point. When Telstra changed from the 25GB broadband plan (which I'm on) and made it 100GB for the same price, I thought 'great! more downloads'. I contacted Telstra and was told that I could 'swap' to the upgraded plan, but I'd lose my mobile phone bundle discount and our contract length would be reset, so I said no.

Later on I got a bit of rage up and contacted them complaining about it. A woman replied and said that I actually COULD get the uprated plan with no extra cost and no contract extension. Big difference between what the two of them were saying.

Looks like the form went through without me "Like"ing

    • like

    • +2

It states in the T&C that you need to hit the like button and remain 'liking' until the end of the promotional period, otherwise you won't get your gift card.

  • sounds fine to me

  • uh maybe you should add, "get voucher in A MONTH" in the title!!!!

  • +4

How can anybody actually "like" a company that was fined over 23 million dollars in one fine last year for anti competitive behaviour?

  • The winking girl scares me :S

  • +4

    I won't be able to lie for $10… for $100 I will :O)

I can't Like Telstra until they make ADSL2+ or Cable internet possible to my house 13Km from Melbourne (The Avenue estate, Sunshine West). What is the point getting fake money for movies when I can only dream of downloading a movie at a reasonable speed.

    • Just wait a bit longer.

    • ok ok ok I'm excited now !!!

I just heard about Telstra Top Hats and luckily my house is in one of the proposed Rollout areas - scheduled Feb 2012. Finally I might be able to actually get ADSL 2+. I promise I'll come back to Like once connected. =)

Here is the link about Top Hats, and the link to rollout areas is under video.

  • Mr rep, if all our family members get $10 Shopping Voucher each, total 5 or $50 Shopping Voucher, can we use 5 Shopping Voucher in one purchase from bigpond.com.au / telstra.com.au?

    • nah, you'd only be able to use one in each.

      • +1

So another words lie to get stuff. I don't think i can stoop that low. Wow I think I found my moral fibre, this has never happened before!

    • +1

If you're a Telstra customer, you're going to have to lie just to use the page to get help. Goodness knows you can't get it over the phone.

'Like me for $10?'; ..very blatantly transparent if I do say so, big T. (Bad).

      stick to vodafone, mate.

  • +1

After my experiences, I wouldn't "like" Telstra with a 20ft bargepole. And it's safe for me to say that, because history has shown they cannot actually find my house. Seriously.

  • +1

Mr rep, can we use $10 BigPond Shopping Gift Voucher on telstra.com.au or telstra shop/store? e.g. for paying the bill or shopping at telstra shop?

if not, anything on bigpond.com is over-priced (far too expensive) even after $10 off, we will have to dislike it

    • +1

how come rep don't reply any quires???

items on bigpond.com are over-priced (far too expensive) even after $10 off

  • Assuming this goes through, I'll get about 50 free Chupa Chups, no complaints here.

Telstra, you know what? I'll like you for free on the day talking to your overseas customer service doesn't make me want to pull my hair out.

  • +1

worry less about face book telstra instead just focus on the broken copper..

  • Im not going to complain about a free voucher :) Thanks, never had a problem with you that wasnt resolved within a day

  • Is there an "I hate Telstra button"?

In my experience Telstra has improved its practices and customer service over the last two years or so, under Government pressure - and it certainly needed to … but from time to time I am reminded it has a way to go in certain areas.

Just on Friday they tried to charge me $1.75 to register my "dissatisfaction" as they put it - when I was looking for a refund for something they had done wrong!!!

What other business tries to charge you for complaining about their mistake, as well as charging you for the mistake itself?!

I like Telstra? An oxymoron surely.

The more I think about it the more I want to neg this but its probably against the rules.

    • care to elaborate on that mistake?

      • Friday's mistake was small beer, but it's the principle, and previous notable mistakes have been outrageous - totalling over $12,000 on my family-of-four's account and the horrific thing is I don't even check my bills! I've even caught them hiding records! And EVERY time, after having had to waste time, and indeed involving the TIO, until they did the right thing, I've squeezed a huge credit out of them to rectify their overcharging. The credits are sufficient proof of their malpractices, which included charging nearly double the max rate for an Internet plan that didn't ever exist (for about 18 months, despite regular queries from me); overcharging a tel bill by $8,000, disconnecting it while I was overseas & refusing to reconnect it until it was paid!!!; and "perpetually" billing - their term for a disgraceful practice - a white pages entry that their own records showed we had cancelled, which one operator tried to cover up. Enough of me! :)

Fridays mistakeS were re a call to 1234 seeking a tel number. The op couldn't find the # and when i told her it was on the internet she - erroneously - said they didn't use it. I thought that would be that - and that I would have to wear the charge ($1.75). BUT, having quicky found the # on the net, half an hour later I received an SMS with the same wrong number I told the op was nothing to do with the one I wanted. The new op said I would be also charged for the second call and it would cost me a further $1.75 to register my "dissatisfaction" let alone get a refund for the first call!

        • Thanks for the update

        • +3

          You're welcome.

"Tal_Shiar" … sounds like saying "Telstra" when you're drunk.

          ;)

  • The banks should do this.
They are getting hammered on Facebook.

  • In the T&C it says you need to enter details after you like the FB page but I can't find the website to do that… Could someone please post the link?
    Cheers!

  • telstra coming to ad here and claim "24x7 customer service", but they do NOT provide customer service and reply query/question at all!

  • why isn't this on the first page?

    • It was on the front page — like almost 3 weeks ago. Currently it's on page 13…

  • Anybody got a voucher yet????

    • Not yet =(

      • +1

They're apologising for the delay on their Facebook page.

Or you could get a voucher for games or music if you're changed your mind

    http://shop.bigpond.com/Category.asp?CTID=34&Sort=1

  • Any one know if they will be adding more cheap (<$10 free delivery stuff- mostly cosmetics) ?
