Samsung Trade-in Program

Hi All

I thought I'd shine some light for some people that want to do the trade in offer with Samsung.

I had an old Samsung S8 (trade in value $35) and purchased a Samsung S20 for $615 ($100 Loyalty code, $50 Newsletter, $35 Trade in value + $450 Bonus)

My mum's phone stopped functioning last night and needed a spare phone, so I contacted Asurion directly to see what the issues would be if I didn't return it.

They said I'd be charged $35, So I emailed back mentioning the $450 bonus and got the response saying "You wil only be charged $35"

Sounds like a big loophole which i could be assisting them to close, but an S20 for $650 and I get to keep my old phone.

I did read in a deal somewhere someone else had done it too.

(i hope i'm not charged later on/blacklisted from samsung!)

    There's been a few in the deals who have said the same thing

    Did the same thing, got the phone for $514 after $450 bonus, $100 loyalty, $50 newsletter, $35 S8 (Deal)

      Nice, the only thing is I can't get someone from Samsung saying this.
      Was curious to see if anyone from Samsung had reached out to them in the time they didn't return it

    Sounds like a bargain. Don't forget you're saving them the cost of processing, sanitation, testing etc on your old phone.

    I would recommend others to keep their old phone(s) instead of sending it in to Asurion.

    I stupidly sent my Note 9 back for the trade-in (it was worth $195) but ASURION later withdrew $195 from my CC after sending me emails about not receiving my Note 9 (which they admitted was a mistake in an exchange of emails).

    "Oh, not to worry. We charged you by mistake, we'll process a refund", they wrote. 25 days later no refund came.

    I had to do a credit card dispute to get the $195 back when they started outright ignoring my requests for a refund.

      The same thing has happened to me, they've charged me when I returned the phone in June!

    they already recharged me the amount the trade in was worth and that was it… i'm still waiting for them to return my phone,

    Anyone else never get charged at all? I had all the emails warning me but the charge never materialised. Purchased back in April.

    Damn, I returned my S7 (almost new condition for just $15) thinking i might be charged with bonus amt. could have sold it for >$200 easily :(

    Never trade in my phones, always get good price when put them on Ebay or Gumtree !

      You won't get the amount for and old phone if you include bonus.

    Never charged except for the trade-in amount. Got to keep the $400 bonus (plus $200 loyalty voucher and $100 discount on phone already) - pretty happy!

      I assume you got it during eofy where they drop the original price by 250 alone.

    got $250 for my S9 on facebook where they offered me I think it was $75
    never even thought to check if I was charged or not…

    I'm seeing a $500 bonus for the S21 at the moment that i'm interested in.

    Unfortunately I only have a Pixel 5 to trade in (worth $180).

    Could I do this deal and then keep the Pixel 5 and pay the $180?

    Is this new? Or they just don't follow it. I am lil concerned if I don't return my trade in phone, will they charge me the additional admin fee or trade in bonus

    When I sent this TradeUp question one what if I'd like to keep the mobile back…it's 60$ plus Trade-in charges. I'm deciding to keep my S10+

    Thanks for your query, if you wish to not return your old device you will be charged the full trade-in credit (the amount you got offered for your old device). After this it will no longer be a requirement to return your old device to us. You will be charged an additional $60 admin fee for not returning the device. We hope that this information has been helpful.

    Any bonus credit/vouchers will remain as it is. You may receive some reminder emails about returning your old device which you can ignore if you’re planning to keep that device. Any bonus credit will remain as it is.
