  • I bought a very similar one (even in quality) for around $28 normal price. Check eBay first I'd say.

    • Really? The cheapest one I can find on eBay with smart home integration is around $60.

I got this down at $40 (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/617133) a while ago, and I keep expecting it to break (being Kogan), but it keeps going. In 12 months I've probably saved 100 hours from not hanging around the kitchen waiting for the kettle to boil.

    • Same here… Have had ours for closer to 2 years now. Still works well. Got it on a great deal when they first released them. Lid is a bit sticky unless you pull back slightly when pushing the latch down but no problems once you are used to this. It does boil fast!

    Would not recommend.
Bought two a few months ago.
One would not stop boiling and the only way to turn it off would be to unplug it or take it off the base. The second would not connect to the app.
Contacted Kogan and they provided a refund without asking any questions.

They're used to their branded products being crap, I've had something refunded no problems too. Kettle going well though.

    • You probably had it on 'stay warm' mode. It's feature of this kettle.

      • That's what I originally thought too. So I followed the instructions, I tried troubleshooting with the help of Kogan support, and they admitted that it was indeed faulty.

      • One would not stop boiling and the only way to turn it off would be to unplug it or take it off the base

if you have set stay warm at 100 degrees, this happens.

I bought one for $28 last year and I havent had a single issue with mine.

  • Shit kettle first one cracked second one didn’t connect

If your looking for a smart kettle I would recommend the Kmart one

    https://www.kmart.com.au/product/1.7l-smart-variable-tempera…

    • I would recommend Kmart kettle compare to Kogan. Using KMART kettle for nearly 8 months. No issues.
Kogan kettle has lot of plastic material and the durability is an issue where as Kmart is well built and zero plastic.

    • I got a Kmart one and although its pretty good and works well its very loud as its a metal body. I have a non smart glass Breville and its half the noise this thing makes.
Now im in a bind, do i get up every time i have to make the baby milk or do i put up with the stupid loud kettle?

  • First kettle leaked. Kogan sent a replacement. So Customer service is good.

  • Bought it for $39 a while back - been going fairly well, but it does feel cheap compared to my previous Breville "dumb" kettle.
    A few things:
    - even though I fill it below the max level, still seems to sputter water out of the edges of the lid when boiling
    - sometimes have to press on lid button a few times to get it to open (annoying)
    - can't get it to register with Google app no matter what I do (other Kogan devices are ok - lights and switches) - any ideas/tricks to make it work?

I agree with your review completely as I own three, for different houses.

One has finally carked it and is leaking at the bottom.
Quality isn’t the best but I don’t buy them as a long life kettle. The convenience and quality of life the voice/app controls gives me is worth it. Although I still can’t believe so many more brands haven’t made their own version. (minus a few)

I use Alexa with it and it’s fine. First kettle I connected to Kogan smarter home app, and then Alexa. But now I just connect them straight to the Tuya Smart app instead, which I find communicates better with Linking to Alexa. Tuya also gives a IOS widget to turn and off, and IIRC still has timer functions. Can always go into the Kogan S/H app if you ever need to though.

      Hope this helps!

  • Got this for $36 from a previous deal, still going strong after 13 months!

bought one last year and never use it. Don't waste your money if you already have a kettle
