  • Seems expensive for some rubber bands.

    • Peter Greste recommends 5BX which is free

    • Staggeringly cheaper than weights which are just heavy objects.

Was looking for some weights for a long time but realised I could get bands for a fraction of the price and space.

Looks pretty similar to way cheaper ones on Amazon

    • Wouldn't want to have a cheap one snap on me though…

having a more expensive one snap on you feels better, i agree.

I can confirm that these are 100% better than those dropshipped flimsy strips of rubber you see scattered all over eBay and Amazon. The quality is the top notch. I can definitely recommend as I have the full set of all powertubes and have been using them since mid last year.

smaller version for 89 if you don't need the leg straps https://www.rebelsport.com.au/p/ptp-resistance-system-570475…

  • If you are willing to wait for shipping, these are highly rated by NYTimes Wirecutter and cheaper than PTP. Also has the anti-snap feature (in built rope)

Did a bit of research but ended up getting the PTP at $110 on sale to get it sooner.

I bought some from Catch a year ago. still works fine .

Only costed like $20 odd think off memory

  • Marketing gimmick

  • Has anyone used TRX suspension training instead? Do you like it?

    • +3

I have had both for several years. Different products. I like both for different reasons.

Anchoring the TRX in a domestic space is a PITA and requires gadgetry that doesn't come in the box - possibly reinforcing walls or roof in order to support it. Does well in a garage/carport with overhead beams or if you have a freestanding frame. TRX is entirely body weight dependent, so for some exercises depending on your starting strength, it can be quite difficult.

PTP system works really well indoors, including in a tiny hotel room for 14 days quarantine. The door anchor comes in the box and buying a second so you can rotate through different exercises without resetting is $15 from Rebel. The flexibility of using the different resistance bands means that you can start out on the lowest resistance if you are a beginner and ramp it all the way up. Point to note that those bright colours will discolour after a couple of years of use. The bands still work, but if you're into the fluoro green, yellow and orange, you'll be disappointed down the track.

As far as the PTP vs some of the ebay/amazon resistace band offerings, I wouldn't compare. The construction and durability of these is worth the extra spend.

  • Theres are like $10-15 on eBay, sure not the same brand, but like yeah.

  • Resistance is futile….

  • OOS.
