RX580 Vs GTX 1070 Comparison

Seems like the nvidia is 30-50% better off despite being an older card.

Is there such a big difference in gap between the two in practice?

I'm embarrassed to be still using an RX580 and you're looking to buy one?

    • It is still plenty good for non gaming use. 2x27" qhd monitors for work.

      • you can do that on a 1050 ti max q

        • I might be very embarrased (instead of merely embarrased).

My old laptop using some R5 mobile GPU managed. I guess most dedicated GPU will do fine.

if you want apple to apples comparison it should be RX580 vs GTX1060, GTX 1070 is one tier above it.

1070 is nearly 50% faster on average than rx580.

    • Thought so, but since RX580 is fetching for money, relatively close to GTX1070, was second guessing myself.

      • It's because they mine at similar rates.

*obviously the prices are a rough guide of what to expect in normal times. Increased hype and demand, scalpers, crypto-miners, new Tax increases, and supply constraints mean that prices are very UN-natural at the moment.

    • Why post USD prices at all… normal range cards are being sold for over $350.

The 2nd hand GPU market is an absolute joke right now.

      • USD for convenience sake, as that's the prices people discuss on the interwebs.
You can just do the conversion for yourself. Especially knowing the volatility of our currency in recent. With that said, PC Gaming is a niche in Australia, and our population is far away and small.
And we're rich… so expect them to slap on the usual "Aussie Tax" to rip us off.

Figured you would object moreso, to the hierarchy than anything else. Some placements there are definitely questionable, especially when it comes to certain game titles.

I agree, the whole market (new / used) is a joke. It's been that way since the RTX-2080Ti launched, and it won't come back to "regular levels" until 2023 at the earliest. We will see the used market flooded with a lot of unwanted cards later rather than sooner.

        • yep USD makes much more sense if you're talking global as there's no GST and no AUD region tax.

I am kinda happy that my GPU is still not dumpster level :)

I do want a new GPU but probably not going to happen until the GPU market calms down a ltitle

    • Don't diss my GTX 780 I got for 80 aussie bucks early this year…

    • Where can I find an RX 6700 non-XT?

      • That's a cut-down RX-6700xt card.
They didn't make many of them, simply because there weren't many defective wafers, so instead we had more regular RX-6700xt. And it compounds worse because of the chip shortage. Basically, the higher the GPU price, then the larger the profit-margin is for AMD. They've been milking what they can get with the 2020-Crypto boom.

The last I heard is that the 6700 (non-xt) was going to be an OEM product for now. It's manifested some places, but pretty rare for now. We don't even have a Low-Profile dGPU from AMD/Nvidia, that's how strained the whole market it. But the details we know is that it is a USD $399 RRP card, 12GB RAM, and 36 CU…. which should put it around the performance of the RTX 2080 and the RTX 2070-Super.

  • I have the 580 and wish I bought something even more expensive, gpu prices weren't so crazy way back when I got it.
