  • Anyone else just using ssd’s or nvme’s in enclosures?

I also say THANKS…..I see they have those SanDisk Extreme Pro 1TB USB 3.1 SSD (in a USB shell)…a bit pricey now but when they're on a good special I'll bite

    Thanks mate. Got one😁

  • I heard these are really slow at writing…does anyone have any experience with this one?
Is the Ultra Flair any better for a couple extra bucks?

    • +1

That's $1 more for a rated 150mb/s. But similar speed I hear, or you could pay $1 less with a Lexar.

I have that Lexar, it's write speed is CRAZY SLOW. This Sandisk also likely has a similar write speed, if the product information omits the write speed, then assume the write speed is less than 15% of the read speed, because even 50% of the read speed is something the manufacturer would be shouting from the rooftops.

        • thanks - so in theory the "ultra flair" should be marginally faster writing than the "ultra", going off the advertised read speed.

@dajackal: You can't really predict the write speed of any of Sandisk's "ultra" branded products, you have to do a google search to see what speeds people have reported. Even different capacities of the same line might have different speeds. That said, the "ultra flair" seems to have generally higher write speeds, like 20mb/s.

Sandisk's naming scheme goes: "Ultra" means fast reading, whatever writing. "Extreme" means fast reading AND writing.
