@danzster: Strange enough, cash rewards state a $100 cashback cap for Lenovo per day.

Be aware of the Ts and Cs
"Items must be shipped by 31/08/2021 to be eligible for the offer."

        • +1

have a feeling the customised item wont be shipped out in time…

          • +1

@danzster: apparently there's shipping date lottery going on where some shipping dates changed from Nov to Aug..

            • +1

@assarabbiya: Yes i ordered an Ideapad originally November 30 ship, just arrived in the country yesterday haha

              • +1

@ItsBraden: Ordered my on 13th July, i think the do long lead in time to give them self space. My status changed 5 time in the last week as far OCT. Now say August 19th delivery.

                • @wassabi: looks my my lottery ticket's no good - shipping on mid Nov..
looks like I'll be cancelling the order in few weeks

    • CR works with coupon code?

  • Interesting, to think my max spec'd out legion 7 rtx3080 cost double that with 3yr accidents theft protection

    • U got jammed up bro.

      • +1

They did take off 2.5k, normal price was 7.2k

    • +3

Holy shit you paid 5k for a laptop?

  • +1

Nice! Good to see a bright screen for once!

  • They are getting closer to the deal from April for $2439. Just lack the 32gb RAM and 1tb SSD this time.

    • yeah the april deal was unfortunately better :(

      • and exclusive to the education store

    • Sh1t! Why is it the deals I could really use come up when I'm caring for others, so I miss it.

  • If you don't need one now, better to wait for a better deal. Like $2200

  • +1

Disregarding the price difference, this or the Alienware X17?

    • +1

      Just comparing price points

      Alienware X17

      1. Need the UHD option to get a 500 nits screen
      2. Heavier with a start weight over 3kg vs 2.5kg
      3. CPU performance is similar based on Passmark
        https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/AMD-Ryzen-7-5800H-vs-In…

Though the 5800H is much more power efficient. Refer to Notbookcheck.

11800H consumes on average 131w vs 93.1w of the 5800H for the same Cinebench benchmark for example

      https://www.notebookcheck.net/i7-11800H-vs-R7-5800H-vs-i7-11…

      • The Alienware is physically a fair bit larger too it's a 17.3" 16:9.

    • Legion Pro is better value over the Alienware.
Alienware you are paying the extra premium tax.

    • Note you'll need to buy the most expensive version the M4 to get comparable GPU wattage. The other alienware variants have lower wattage.

    • I ordered an X17 w/ 20% student discount. I like the Aesthetics.

  • +2

You can get this machine with 32gb RAM and 1tb SSD by chatting to Lenovo for 2500. I really want to buy to take advantage of the Amex deal but sadly don't think it'll be shipped in time :(

    • tried many times but couldnt.. who did you talk to?
the best i was offered was around 2800

      thanks

      • I can't remember who I spoke to but try using a business or education account to negotiate the better deal. I'll try upload a screenshot later.

        • If you have a quote number then they can price match it

        • Please post here or PM me if you find out who you talked to and would appreciate the screenshot/quote or order number please.

          thanks

          • +1

            @Jvin: PM sent

            • @[Deactivated]: Could you please also send me a PM of the screenshot/quote? I have tried but failed😣

              Many appreciated!

              • @Johan0210: Can i get a pm of the quote if you have it please?

          • @Jvin: Can I get a pm of the quote as well please?

            • @okyyy4: I got a quote around 2600 however from the education store. Lenovo refuse price match on the normal store.

    • Hi can you please Pm the quote to me as well please?

Got this back in April. It is a superb laptop even at this price, you'll be able to update the RAM and/or get a second M.2 drive for a few hundred if you keep your eyes peeled for specials etc.

Seriously, this is the best computer I have even owned, period. The screen is incredible, it is super snappy and responsive, plays AAA titles without breaking a sweat. Looking forward to hooking up Air Link with my Quest 2 so I can play Half-Life: Alyx wireless.

    • +1

I've been looking at this laptop for months now for mobile premiere editing and the screen and performance has really caught my attention. The only thing stopping me is the overly gamery aesthetic… I wish they made this exact laptop but more in line with razer, xps, mac etc, maybe that's just me.

      • +1

I agree with you, but at least L5P isn't too gamery compared to most others. Keyboard is normal, no big "LEGION" or anything, no weird lighting.

If they had an option to have a top lid that just said "Lenovo" that would be perfect.

    • you got the 32GB 3070 variant?

      • Yup, it was via an Education Store deal. Absurd good luck on my part.

    • Is it comfortable and light enough to be resting the laptop on your lap while watching movies? Aside from gaming which I do on a computer desk, I also browse the internet and watch movies while lying in bed.

      • Get a 2-1 laptop.
Difficult to watch in bed with 15” laptop.

  • +1

Price not bad given the current desktop GPU price. but I think for most people the price is still too high, Dell G15 3060 AMD version is a better choice, I know the screen is much worse, cooling is worse, and all plastic feeling, but it is around 1600 - 1700 if on sale. personally I would love to pay 300 to 400 more for thise model, not 800.

Given the limited hash rate cards price all goes down recently, I think people should wait a little longer. below 2k is a good price.

    • I actually agree with this especially nowadays we all have a fancy monitor to use it with so the screen isn't much of an issue plus, it's pretty much stationed next to the monitor so plastic feeling is forgivable. This is of course a different scenario if you are constantly on the travel.

      • if not moving it at all, just remove the bottom cover and put a huge fan under it, this will beat any cooling solution on the market.

    • gotta take into account the TGP btw…

    • +2

$300-400 is the difference between upgrading from a 3060 to a 3070 usually. Are they supposed to throw in the better everything else for free? The Lenovo laptop is better in literally every metric (screen, keyboard, trackpad, webcam, speakers, battery life, build quality, CPU performance, GPU performance).

      • in addition to that the G5 3060 is Max-Q and the 3070 on L5Pro is Max-P equivalent

        • L5pro is worth it over the Dell G series.
L5pro competes with the Alienware, except it is better value.

  • +1

I reaaaaalllly want one of these. Watched and read reviews on it and it is a great gaming laptop for sure.
But I am waiting. Waiting for prices to drop later in the year. Perhaps Cyber Monday / Black Friday deals will be better timing for me to pull the trigger.

    • I actually pulled the trigger and the current timeframe is due to ship within the amex rebate but I want the Intel version for the thunderbolt 4. I'm gonna cancel the order and wait and see upto black friday as you suggest. See what happens!

      • L5iP is sooo much more expensive though - I was hoping for an intro offer like there was for L5P but sadly not the case it seems..

        • Haha I actually remember the exact HP Omen thread where you wrote about this too. I was also waiting on a L5iP based on that advice since at the time the L5P never returned to that really good 2439 deal until just recently.

          • +1

            @Jackman117: sorry if I disappointed you :D

            • @assarabbiya: Haha nah it's all good it was intel that disappointed :P I figured they'd be more expensive I was more specifically waiting to see if they had slim L5P or L5iP for any cheaper but I was wrong haha.

  • Been waiting for a deal like this for ages to come up again for a while.
Every time they come up still always a huge wait unless you settle for a 3060.
Ended up settling for a MSI GP66 I7 11800H/RTX 3080 with no wait time in recieving. No regrets

    • How much did that set you back? I've been looking at the leopard too.

      • $3149 (10% off @ Computer Alliance).
        32gb 3200mhz ram, 1tb Samsung 7000mb read/5000mb write gen4 nvme drive, 240hz (close to 100% sRGB) display.
        Overall pretty happy with it.

        • ive never own MSI laptop before how the quality of the case etc… good price but how does warranty stack up? be tough to get something fix jumping thru hoops. high specs unit like this run hot high chances of getting issues.

          • @wassabi: I have a MSI GE73VR 7RF Raider. Bought in 2017. I only had 1 issue with it, which was the display/hinges came loose. Contacted local MSI through their website, got booked in, and dropped off my laptop to them. They fixed it in a couple of days and haven't had a problem since.
            My experience was positive.

          • @wassabi: 2 Year warranty standard. 3 months extra extended warranty for doing a survey on MSI's page. I paid for a $189 extended warranty too, so 3 years and 3 months in total for mine.
I've had a GE72VR before and its still going well. My son is using it now.
Quality is great, Metal back cover on LCD, metal Top cover (keyboard area) and sides, plastic base.
Cooling setup is pretty awesome, cooler boost keeps things cold (albiet loud) but you can change fan profiles in advanced mode if you are just doing daily work. I don't mind using cooler boost in games as I use headset/headphones anyway.

        • The main drawback is around warranty. It's basically the wild west compared to Lenovo. For a top tier device, I'd want that reassurance.

          • @boretentsu: nothing beats Lenovo or the other major brand they have large government contract and business have repair out in a day to your place. that the good thing about Lenovo. plus lenovo business line and even legion build material is the best ive seen.

        • That rtx3080 is limited to 130w, there are some rtx3070 laptops that could potentially beat that laptop in gaming

  • General observation about this and other Lenovo deals: they charge $77 to increase the basic warranty from 1yr to 2yrs and then increasing amounts for more years or higher tiers of warranty. But I seriously doubt that Lenovo would get away with declining a warranty claim after say 18 months even if you didn't purchase any upgrades/extensions, because under the Australian Consumer Law the basic consumer guarantees take into account 'what would normally be expected for the type of product and cost'.

If you spend $2,500 on a premium laptop and it fails after 18 months, it seems very unlikely Lenovo would be able to refuse to repair/replace at its own cost.

    • good point i was thinking the same. they try to get some money out of warranty. if you got 2yr you wold get almost at least 1 more cooling off period. form my experience thing start to stuff up toward 2.5 yrs. i guess at least you can choose.

  • Does ShopBack work with this coupon code?

  • sigh why can't we get a deal as good as this one from Lenovo US store :P

    https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLaptops/comments/ot8t7o/is_th…

    • $1,600 + postage to Australia, + import taxes.
I mean it wouldn't be that much cheaper.

    • you guys gets deal from Walmart etc for 1500, in Oz no department store sells laptop like walmart etc is only online and that it.

  • Whats the battery life like?

  • +1

Chatted to a Lenovo agent and the lowest price they could do for me was $2,812.45 for the 32GB 1TB config. Unfortunately that is too high for my $2500 desired benchmark.

    • Should be under $2200 given it was only $2400 4 months ago.

      • Laptop/computer prices has remain the same for the past year.
        No depreciation on price.

  • When I click on the link, it says $2,209.15. Has the price drop? or am I missing something?

    • +1

add the graphic card 3070 take it up to 2464

  • Wish Lenovo would make a ultraportable <1.7kg 14 inch gaming laptop. Struggling between the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro and the Asus Zephyrus G14. The lighter weight of the Asus G14 would make it more comfortable for me to rest it on my laptop while watching Netflix in bed.

    • Get the Asus Zephyrus, it’s a great laptop.
      I got one for $2000 with 4900H & RTX2060 a while ago.
I am looking to upgrade to L5Pro with 3070, but hoping for better price.

A better option is to get an iPad for Netflix in bed and buy a larger cheaper laptop.

    • Who the ef watches nexflix in bed with a gaming laptop? Use Your phone or get a TV.

      • +2

i do. brought L5Pro and L7. L7 desktop replacement got L5Pro for really good price

        • +1

          weird but okay

        • +1

Is the L5Pro too heavy to watch movies in bed with?

canberrascooter - I'm trying to declutter my life and decrease the items I actually need on a daily basis. Granted that means less Ozbargain junk if need be.

          • @xdigger: then you should move to using Apple product best way to simplify your tech. yes is a little heavy but i dont put in my lap, put it on a laptop stand. had use cheap slim laptop quality just not there wasted more money on it then spending 2k on this.

  • So this is still not as good as the original deal?

For those of us without amex… Cash rewards drops another 100$ to 2364.15

Have larger SSD / better ram ready to go.

From a supply/demand perspective, and the ridiculous shipping delays….. are we really expecting a price drop?

  • What a joke Lenovo are. They are advertising an approximate arrival of 2 weeks. Post purchase estimate goes straight to late November/December. Poor service when they know it won't be 2 weeks. It's not like it's a couple weeks more, we're talking 16 weeks overdue.

I contacted them and they danced around and didn't give me a response about how this isn't right by the customer, taking there money with an estimate that is so far off what they expect. How can they do this? It's not like they've been caught out with an unexpected delay, that may have happened at first but they've been selling them all month, last month and they are continuing to sell them with this 2 week estimate.

  • ordered mind in 13/7 first it estimated for early October, then it jump around a few time. now i am getting in by the 15th August. just wait.
