  • Buy the toothbrushes on eBay from the seller and use a code. I used a month ago a 15% discount voucher and only paid 339 for the IO9. I can only find a 3% voucher quickly still 12$ cheaper than ordering it directly on their website. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-Oral-B-Io9-Electric-Toothbru…

Thanks that's a good idea, what voucher did you find for $12? I can't seem to find any, been wanting this brush for ages now

      • The price is same since a while now. If you have an eBay plus account you should have a targeted 3% voucher for this. Have a look there might be better vouchers.

      • If you don’t need it now I would wait. Eventually there will turn a 10% voucher or even 15% voucher turn up. Shaver shop will keep it on 399. It’s since a lot of weeks for this price and they wouldn’t put it up…

        • Yeah fair enough I might hold out then thanks for the info

          • @Deeseeee: You might even get a 20% off code. No worries. If you want I can let you know and send a pm if I find a code.

            • @Thrifty Dan: Yeah that would be awesome thanks, do you have this brush how would you review it?

I see that you decided to take my advice on an earlier post of yours even though you clearly negged my comment back then.

      Let me refresh your memory:

At that time it was the best deal. A week after it got cheaper on eBay.

  • Guessing different heads to one I have stocked up from eons ago :D

    • Yes.
The IO series brush heads are also more expensive.

Far out. Why should one purchase an electric toothbrush 10 times the price than one from woolies?

    Legit question here.

    • Same reason why people buy Ferrari and Toyota. Legit answer.

      • +1

Agree. And you will never understand or believe until trying out yourself.

        True, thanks.

        Horses for courses I guess.

So it’s faster, flashier and lower quality.

We had the discussion before in another thread and all cheapies came out of their holes arguing same thing. Nevertheless I bought IO9 for 339 from this seller (399-15% via EBay) and I’m impressed! It’s the bloody Tesla under the toothbrushes. I also ordered a Tesla Powerwall 2 the other day and you get what you pay for… sorry bit off topic but the end of the story, my teeth are bloody shiny as hell again. Maybe you can do this with a cheap 5$ toothbrush too but maybe not. These are made in Germany and feel like a dentist instrument in your hands and for me it’s the right product. This is not for tight ars** that’s for sure…

At the end of the day you paid $339 for something that does the same as a $3 colgate brush.

I can say for myself had bleeding gums with normal toothbrush. And ever since using electric ones ($100 or so Oral B model), I don't have that issue.

      • +1

        Do you floss?

Because a couple of days after I started flossing I stopped having bleeding gums using just a manual toothbrush

        • Nope, don't floss much.

          • +1

@PvsNP: Floss everyday. You won’t have bleeding gums

          • -1

            @PvsNP: You have a $300+ toothbrush but you don’t floss 🤔

            • -1

@zemphism: The myth of flossing is bad got to me. But tbt I've become lazy / forgetfull.

  • Does this have bluetooth?

    • Yes. There is a companion app with AI technology which monitors your brushing patterns everyday, and suggests improvements.

      • +2

I have Bluetooth on my 8000+ series and I find the whole tracking thing to be a huge gimmick. Brushing my teeth is something I do so often that I simply don't have the time nor inclination to sit there proactively checking or reviewing data. I think the time is better spent focusing on difficult to reach spots and making sure you brush often rather than adding further steps to a routine you've no doubt been doing since a young age. Not worth the power drain on my phone, but to each his/her own I guess.

  • The way oral-b has created such a bs rrp for this new range is a big 🖕to them

  • +1

Can someone confirm a $200 Oral B works ten times better than their Vitality at $22 when on special?

  • +3

What makes this new IO range better than say a 7000/8000/9000 series? Wouldn't you be better off with this range at a reduced price and with cheaper/compatible heads? I question the relevance of the purported "AI recognition" and "Teeth tracking" in this regard and honestly believe this is just an attempt to redesign the consumables so that they can justify more ongoing costs, much the same way the printer companies tend to (plus there is the added benefit of taking back some of the revenue lost to clones/compatible heads for a period of time). I also would love to see a teardown on the heads mechanically as I bet they don't differ greatly in design internally, going to hazard a guess they could have achieved the same results while retaining the existing heads but chose this route in order to increase bottom line.

Fair point which is why my previous toothbrush was Oral B Pro 2000. Which from reviews online seem to be the cheapest and best match for having what you need - fastest oscillation, pressure sensor and that's about it.

Only reason I bought Pro X Elite from Oclean was that battery was going wanky in my Oral B,.and for $100 all up with colour screen etc it wasn't too bad.

  • Decent price. Too late for me as I already bought Oclean Pro X Elite.

  • Hi all, has anyone had luck using the promo code IO7? I already had an account with Shaver Shop but I'm unable to apply the code. Thank you!
