  • free with $50 spend? :P

    • updated XD

      • Haha would've been a dream come true.

This is a good price, I bought mine off ASOS for $56 last week and it has a UK plug - wish this deal came about earlier :(

        • That happened to me with a different wahl product a year ago. I still use them but man it really is an inconvenience!

    • yeh i thought i was getting it for $2 :(

  • +5

Brought these at the start of covid, haven't paid for a haircut since.

    • +11

      where did you bring it?

      • +3

Everywhere I go. Always got to look my best.

    • Ditto

  • Purchased thanks. Lockdown life

  • Corded version is $39.95.

  • +1

If anyone has this specific model, would you tell me if the motor is strong enough to cut hair in one go or I need to run over the same place a few times so it gets all of it to the same length, and while it is charging can it be used with the cord or it can only run on the battery? Thanks

    • +5

It's strong enough but for good measure you always want to run it through a few times.

It can be used while charging - if you have thick hair it's probably ideal as the motor is strongest when plugged in. Even full charge wireless is about 70-80% strength.

    • Its rarely the motor and usually the comb getting 'full', so literally any brand will need multiple passes.

    • +1

Yup, always do multiple passes, irrespective of model/strength.

Unless you reeeallly have a need for cordless, go corded. It's not just about the motor being 'stronger' (which it is), or that it won't run out (which it won't), it's also that you get consistent motor strength for the whole cut (every cut).

I'm on my second set of WAHL clippers. On my top 10 list of best value for money purchases, my WAHL clippers sit in 1st and 2nd place :P I think the cheaper sets are made in China the darer sets are made in the US (don't quote me).

I hear ya on the value for money part. My Remington cordless clippers are still going strong after about 12 years. Never needs to oil blades, never needed sharpening, never pulls hair. Have had to replace the battery twice so far. 5 minutes with a soldering iron and all good to go.

        • +1

I have a Remington corded clilippers too. Have been using it for years but i was hoping to get something better. Something that could cut my hair equaly in one pass. After reading the comment above i am a bit disappointed. I thought Wahl are way better than any other brand when it comes to clippers. I guess i will just stick with what i have.

          • @Winston100s: Wahl like Remington and every other brand have their entry level stuff, to their pro stuff. The clippers in this deal seem like cheaper stuff. I can't comment on quality, I've never owned them.

Remington also sell $20 clippers at Kmart and the like, they are good for a few haircuts and then you turf them because they pull hairs and cut unevenly. Whereas my ones are expensive ones, that I got at 50% off. I've seen Wahl stuff at barbers before, but I guarantee they aren't stuff like posted here.

    • Few times. But it happens even with better models made in USA

  • +1

I got this one, not sure if better or worse, hasn't arrived yet.

  • Possibly a silly question but does this work well for hair and beard? What's the difference vs a beard specific trimmer?

    • I have the uk plug version of this one.
I use it at no. 2 for my head and my beard. Works a dream.

It is hard to do your moustache depending on the size comb your using as it goes up your nostrils.

Also it is no good for doing the clean lines on the neck area or your beard is like mine and has some random stragglers higher up on the cheeks.

    • So long as you're willing to trim the top of your moustache, nothing. The hair clipper is worlds better for everything. Beard trimmers are a nightmare by comparison.

    • +1

Beard trimmers are also narrower, for the most part. They're designed to get into more angled and tighter spaces than a head. I'm skinny, and it's a pain to clipper my neck with hair clippers as I have to change angles 100 times.

https://www.shavershop.com.au/wahl/cordless-groom-pro-hair-c… not sure how this compares but similar pricing

  • +1

Been using the uk plug version of this which I pod $40 for about 2 years ago - hasn’t missed a beat and hold battery charge really well.

Use it to do my hair and beard at no. 2 about once a week.

  • I have thick hair and have been looking for a replacement but recently i've gotten a few different wahl products under $100 that were on special and none worked. Is this actually good? Also I can't seem to find where it is made?

      Manufactured
      China

Can't actually comment for myself, but I've heard the same thing every has. The cheap ones are made in China, the good ones are made in the USA

      • it's 2021 not 2001. do you consider iphone a cheap one or a good one?

        • all iphones are made in China, there isn't models manufacturered in different countries to see a difference.

    • You are better off buying a professional model, possibly from Amazon USA.

    • Wahl V5000 is also pretty good corded clipper $100, much powerful.

  • Grabbed a set, thanks OP!

  • -3

Think I'm just gonna go with the $19 corded clipper set from Kmart. Comes with more stuff too.

  • Legend, thanks!

  • +4

No taper lever on this model. If doing fades/blends of different lengths then i recommend going the corded version which has a taper lever.

    • Oooh good spotting, I use the taper lever to do my beard, when I wanna go back to 'stubble only' for mask mandates.

      • +1

Yep, Lever down with no guide comb (0.5) is perfect for stubble

  • +1

Is it worth the extra $10 for the "USA made" version of this?
    https://www.shavershop.com.au/wahl-traditional-barbers/hair-…

Both have 2 year warranty. From reading reviews, some people say it vibrates a bit more than their regular pair of clippers. The only difference I can see would be the colour coding on this model and possibly a slight physical size difference in clippers. *note: comparing the corded models"

  • Thanks OP. Bought it for $39 (after $10 discount for 1st time customers for signup) + Wahl black cutting cape for $11.95..I thought its best to buy this to make total $50 instead of paying $11.95 fee for delivery :-)
