Yeah I had thought all of this was already recyclable through the council and was putting these in the recycling bin.

    • Unlikely to be recyclable because they will almost always have remnants of the product in them.

Nah, mate, they don't put fresh milk into plastic bottles fished out of yellow bin, so clean it or not is irrelevant.

same here, i do rinse it before chucking these but yea good to know my efforts are wasted

      • You don't think they will be refilling them do you?

Recycled plastics are melted and turned into railway sleepers, that's the main destination for all recycled plastics and those sleepers never recycled again by the way.

That's if it's not simply buried in same landfill with all other stuff, which is much more likely after China stopped buying it.

So if you just buy a $1 mascara pencil and send it via Auspost by spending, say $4, do you still get the $15?

Is there a minimum weight that you need to send them?

    • +2

They should send back a note saying ‘you unconscionable twat’ instead of $15, for wasting a plastic mascara tube, the package to ship it, and the energy required to ship it.

Edit: But from their website, it says there’s a minimum of five items a maximum of once per calendar month, and that they are valid on orders over $50, and you’d still need to pay for those things to be shipped to you.

You'll get $15 voucher to spend in their store where pack of basic steel pegs will cost you $49 and $2 safety razor sold for $44.

Basically it's a $15 discount for already ridiculously overpriced chinese made stuff.

Simply choose not to purchase products that packaging isn’t easily recyclable. Manufacturers should soon get the message.

  • It’s a minimum of $50 spend

It puts the lotion in the basket

Does anyone think that Banish has some facilities to recycle plastics and all that garbage that gets send to them won't end up in same landfill it was destined to go anyway?
