Smart Lights Recommendations for Switches

I'm looking for a smart switch that turn my smart light off but doesn't turn it off in a hard way (ie. in off mode I can still use Google Home to turn it on). My lights are all wifi lights that are google home compatible.

Any recommendations or ideas?

  • Hue Dimmer Switches, or any other pushbutton switch. You will just need a way to get Hue to tell whatever you current lights are to turn off. I use Home Assistant for all my automation needs.

    • Would that work with Deta Grid lights (I think they're Tuya based)?

      • Yes, but you would need to set up TuyaLocal with them.

  • A Tuya Zigbee button is the closest you'll get with what you are trying to achieve. Something like these. Looks like a wall switch but battery operated.

  • what wifi lights are you using,

you might want to look at a home assistant setup to integrate multiple systems

    • Op is asking for a physical switch to turn on/off the smart lights without killing the power completely something a mechanical switch would do. They already have the smartlife app for basic control automations.

      • yes, but knowing the lights will help to see if it can be integrated into HA to use zigbee switches

    • I have DETA Grid downlights

  • There are plenty of options but if once you introduce a second brand to control the light then you will have to tag along another set up. Easiest ist o get the deta grid connected switch to replace the normal switch but you'll need electrician for that.
if you decide to go with another technology like zigbee then you'll have to buy the zigbee gateway too. I don't recommend Phillips hue unless you already got the hue lights.
