Looking for a New Smartphone under $1500

Hi everyone I need some help finding a new smartphone.

Budget: $1500 AUD

What I need:
- 2x Physical sim slots (can't be eSim)
- Good camera (I buy/sell a lot of used goods on Gumtree/FB Marketplace)
- Decent screen (for use in direct sunlight)
- Not laggy

Currently using a Xiaomi Poco X3 but its too laggy for me and the camera isn't that good.

Considering any phones with the above, thanks!

  • Don't mind if it's Android or iOS btw.

What have you found so far on your search…?

    • I've been looking at the Oneplus 9 pro, Oppo reno 6 pro and the Pixel 6 pro (which isn't out yet, and probably won't be dual sim?).

      • Pixel 6 pro

Will it even be under $1500?

        • Probably? Pixel 5 is $1k

      • probably won't be dual sim

As in two physical SIMs? It won't be, but if my Pixel 4 is dual SIM (eSIM and physical SIM), I can't fathom why the Pixel 6 Pro won't be

Poco X3 Pro. Install GCam (Pixel Camera).

This, my dad and sister both have the X3 NFC 6GB and it's a lagfest compared to my X3 Pro 8GB, cam from a Mate 20 RS so the camera was a massive downgrade and let down.
If OP just wants better spepd they should get X3 Pro and saves $1100. If they want better camera they should look elsewhere.
I personally got tired of paying too much for phones (I paid $500-600 for second hand last 2 times I bought a phone). For me X3 Pro is a good balance of price to feature ratio.

I do miss the good camera of Mate 20 RS but don't miss always worrying about breaking it.

If it weren't for the dual sim requirement I'd seriously consider an iPhone. I'm not trying to shill Apple but the longevity of the devices in regards to both speed and software updates is huge if you're planning to keep the phone for a while.

    • Not to mention the camera is great

    • I have a physical dual sim iPhone 12. I imported it myself and Apple Australia allowed me to put the monthly AppleCare+ plan onto it, so warranty until such time I cancel. Unlike the previous XR I imported, this has all 4G and 5G bands for Australia. It ended up costing $100 more than local price, but I needed 2 physical sim slots and to be iOS for my job, so worth it for me.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ 4G? Bit older but definitely not laggy

  • Note 20 Ultra is you have access to the EPP program…
