I have been tasked with a shed clean out. Part of this project will be to sell my 1980's kids toys,such as:-
GI Joe
Transformers
Star Wars
DC.
Can anyone advise of places to sell these toys?I am aware of fleabay but don't want to get scammed. Face to face is also out for me presently. This just leaves facebook groups, but again i am unsure of what scams occur in these groups.

eBay is the only platform where you could consider not doing face to face and cash only.
I'd suggest for relatively small value obscure items the risk of being scammed is outweighed by the greater market.
I've sold hundreds of things on eBay, never been scammed once as a seller.
Wait a sec… If I may ask, who has 'tasked' you with this?
I'd be considering the idea of a storage unit if I was told to clean out my collectables.

No matter how you go about it, just follow 1 simple rule of not getting scammed: CASH IN HAND ONLY.
Ebay? Less Risky via Paypal.
Selling vintage anything (probably not furniture) if you limit yourself to local only, you may miss out the worldwide potential of those whole want to pay a lot higher price.
In other advice I would say try research some of the items to see what there’re worth. Who knows they could be worth something decent
Wait until lockdown is lifted then gumtree or Facebook marketplace with cash on pickup only
