Long time lurker. 1st post, go easy on me.
The real deal is here:
Called up Officeworks (1300 633 423) this morning, told them Amazon has it for $345, confirmed product numbers and they gave discount. Came to $327.75 delivered.
No reason why they couldn't price beat any of the other Extreme Pro MicroSD cards, which are all discounted.

Good price for the size and lifetime warranty, don't need that much size obviously but future proofing. Ok, back to work.

That's from 2018, there is currently a chip shortage, so it's definitely in the vaccine. Jokes… or…

        • +1

Sounds legit. I'm going to post this on my FB mums group so everyone knows the danger of the vaccine. Thanks for the confirmation /s

          • @brightside: didn't say it was dangerous, but i've been able to play chess at 200x since getting sterilized myself.

That is compact. At least the nano computer is more practical. The micro card is like 60 movies on a single video tape (yes, as in hi capacity old media)

  • Perfect for my new dash cam!

    • +4

Check if your dash cam can use 1tb

    • +1

I'm pretty sure you're going to get in a crash before you fill up this microSD :D

      • Not sure about other dash cam brands but my BlackVue set will auto delete the oldest saved video files when it is running out of room.

        • Ooh that's a neat feature. Ig that's never going to be used if you get this tho 🤷‍♂️

    • 1Tb is a bit overkill for dashcam. Make sure your dashcam is compatible with 1Tb

      • Yeah I’d be nervous. Dashcams can be surprisingly finicky especially when they’re sitting in the sun all day long. I’d stick to tried and tested cards for dashcam use even if it means the card cycles data more frequently.

I'm waiting until I can lose 10TB between the cushions.

    • +9

      U can. Just buy 10

      • The real struggle would be loosing all 10 of them between the cushions

Ha it was only last night I took a 32gb microsd out of my laptop while sitting on the couch. Couldn't find it anywhere pulled the couch out, shook my clothes. Was at a complete loss. Found it later when I took my belt off. The 32gb card fell between my belt and the little loop on my pants and got stuck in there.

Cool story bro. I found a floppy disk in my arse crack in 2001.

    Long time lurker.

hehe, the username checks out :)

  • Nice! I'm in the market for one of these once they hit ~ $200

    • +6

Thanks for letting us know. So you know too, I'm in the market for one of these once they hit $20

      • Thanks to both of you for letting us know. So you know too, I'm in the market for one of these once they hit $4.99 at Officeworks (with free postage).

        • Thank you all for letting me know, will get it price beat at one of the competitors for $4.75

  • Best buy a good storage for that price of $345, hopefully chia hasn't killed that opportunity off.

    • I paid for an 18TB external drive for that price. As much as I love 1TB storage, my phone and most mobile phones that are not top end ones can't support 1TB I think?

  • Wow, can switch use this?

    • +4

Yes but it won't take advantage of the speed. A cheaper Sandisk Ultra would perform the same which is $232 for 1TB at Amazon.

  • Long time lurker. 1st post, go easy on me.

    <Insert jv trash comment here>

  • The speeds aren't amazing, but they are better than many others:
    Read speed Up to 160MB/s
    Write speed Up to 90MB/s

Still a bit painful when you are trying to load it or unload it completely.

  • I'm going to need 1tb microsd for my Steam Deck when I get it in about 6 months… I think I'll probably find a cheaper deal by then?

    • I've been keeping an eye out for a few months and haven't seen a better price then this (after price beating Officeworks)… They come up for $345 on Amazon often enough.
Imo if you don't need it within 6 months id wait (and start looking after 4), but even if you find a better price it wont be by much.

  • I don't think many devices can use this size, most phones won't recognise it? Only good for storage when connected to PC with a card reader
