Best Qantas points credit card available right now

Need to get a new Qantas points credit card as I just wrapped up my ANZ credit card, so they're off the table. Does anyone know what the best deal right now is?

  • NAB Qantas Rewards Signature

I had this card and will go back once my 12 months cooling period finishes. Works great in Google Pay, generous bonus point and even earned points on ATO & Council payments (only payments on gamblings were excluded but please check the T&C as they may have changed it).

  • ANZ Frequent Flyer Black - 120,000 bonus Qantas Points and $200 back

Current offer from ANZ is good as well.

  • Need to know whether OP just wrapped up their ANZ "Reward" or "Frequent Flyer" card. The usual 12 months cooling period will apply.

    • Was a frequent flyer card :( That is definitely my favourite points card

      • What feature of the ANZ card did you like? I had an ANZ FF card too and could tell no difference with the NAB card I mentioned above.

Of course I'm in it purely for the bonus points. Never used any of the "features" like car insurance.

        • Found the app pretty easy to use, but mostly it's because when I went to Europe a few years back I had my bag with my passport stolen and a heap of expensive electronics stolen. The insurance on the card (through allianz) paid for everything to be replaced, and for my change of travel plans to get an emergency passport no questions asked, it was a fantastic experience.

  • I’m about to wrap up my ANZ FF Black. Will sign up to Amplify Qantas Platinum for the 60k points and $99 annual fee. Nothing else seems to be worth it at the moment.

    • go through westpac account for that card $0 fee. I just did that

      • As in just create a normal bank account?

        • +1

sorry I just checked my apps again, if you want the St george card, you need to have a normal bank acocunt with St George (open a freedom account and get $40 bonus) and then once freedom account is opened go to St George mobile app or online banking and apply for credit card within the app and fee will be waived

          • @ozbargainerlife1: Thanks will give that a crack. Had a freedom account back in 2019 to get the $40 so don't think i'll be eligible again.

        • With Westpac you can get their platinum card for $50 ($0 annual fee + $50 Rewards fee), which gets you 60K points. Seems a pretty good points per $fee ratio.

Need to have an account with them in theory. If you have any closed accounts with westpac your old login may still work and in theory you can apply without an account but i've not seen any concrete evidence that they will honour that deal with no accounts. therefore i've opened an account and will close it as soon as my rewards fee is charged (at which point i know there'll be no annual fee charged).

  • I just cycle through ANZ, NAB, AMEX, Qantas Premier and St George. One of those would be your answer depending on how much you earn

    • fees on Qantas Premier and NAB….

      • And your point is?
