  • Cheers, just snapped one up to replace my Moto G6.

Only reason I won't get this instead of the Redmi Note 10 Pro is the screen.

  • Thanks OP. Bought mine with Suncorp Rewards JB HiFi Gift Card at 5% off with free express delivery.
Been looking to replace my Nokia 8 and tossing up between X20 and 8.3 but this price is great.

    bought one in Feb.
    great phone

Is Android One a good thing or bad thing to have?

    • +7

      Good imo!

    • +1

Great. It's just clean and fast Android. Doesn't come with a million random vendor apps you don't want. The UI is consistent and sensible. The look and feel is identical across all One devices regardless of vendor.

  • Looked at getting one around January but when I saw it in person I found it too big.

      That's what she…

  • Just scrapes in as decent at this price. No OLED and no 90/120hz screen kill this deal for me :(

What's the benefit of a high hz screen?

      • +2

everything is different with 90/120Hz screen, so smooth that you cannot accept 60Hz anymore :). I have iPhone 12 Pro Max and S21 Ultra, I prefer using S21 Ultra now simply for the screen's refresh rate (and the optical zoom which is helpful to play around with capturing photos in lockdown LOL)

        • Interesting. I've never thought about it before. I rarely watch video or play games on my phone which I assume would great with more Hzs :)

    • I'm interested in 90/120 too. But a couple that I've seen so far it only works if you downgrade the resolution to 1920. Not sure if this is true everywhere.

Pretty good but can get Poco X3 Pro on Kogan for the same price. Bigger battery, 120hz screen and Snapdragon 860 processor. No 5g though.

Would recommend rooting and installing a custom OS though, instead of using the Chinese software

And you also have no working VoLTE. The time for buying get import phones in Australia has ended unless you like to waste your money.

Battery is only 4500mah. Had to google it as JB doesnt list the battery size
    4500mah for a 6.81 inch display…+ 5G…….

  • With an overall Camera score of 86 at dxomark

    • good or bad

reviews said 8.3 has the best nokia camera to date? (excluding n9 pureview)

  • I have this phone and love it. I'm gonna buy a second one this is so cheap.

    • Hi is the screen good for nflix and youtube content?

      • Yeah I watch youtube on it no worries. Don't have Netflix.

        • Thanks for your response

    • i had the nokia 7.1 plus, currently have the nokia 7.2, ordered this nokia 8.3 ….love android one, and the 8.3 should last me at least another 2 years … great price …nothing wrong with my 7.2, but bigger screen and 5G is always nice..

had thought about buy another as a spare but will i find it when i need it ?

      • it's a bloody big phone! I have been using Nokia exclusively since they returned to the market. The 7 plus was an awesome phone. The missus tried the 7.2 but spec wise it was a step back. Then I got the 8.3 and the missus got the 8.2 both solid phones. I got the 5.4 as a back up cheapie and it works well for the low price point.

When the 1/2 price on the 8.3 came along it is the best of all deals! I am not into paying $1200 for a phone.

  • Already shipped and apparently will arrive today, can't wait.

  • Please confirm if Widevine L3 or L1 on this Nokia 8.3? Difference is L3 only offers SD streaming from Netflix etc, whilst L1 is HD.

    • L3 only

  • Bought one, price matches office works.

Does anyone know where to get a high quality leather phone case?

    • Was advised no stock!

      • Ring up the HQ number, not a specific store. They have a tonne in the warehouse apparently.

        • Well done with that.

I should have called their HQ. After I called two local OW stores and was told they had no local stock anywhere in South Brisbane, I ended up buying direct from JB delivered. Got two for my folks… they've been cheap with just using small $150 phones over the years. I keep telling them they'll get better mileage from a discounted midrange… not to mention the bigger screen for the aging eyes.

        • +1

I already did this morning and after waiting for half an hour for someone to pickup they said they have changed the internal pricing apparently to $348 and they cant do a price beat. So good luck with that.

          • +1

@hussy4877: Glad I just ordered online with JB then… it's now in store only at JB.

    • eBay - SupRShield cases are holding up pretty well

    • i bought the 8.3 also ….flip case ebay is where i ordered mine from. pu leather not real cow hide leather

  • Does anyone know if the internal storage is UFS or eMMC?

  • Had sold out at my local store too. But the salesperson just phoned another store and ordered 2 for me. Will arrive in under a week.

  • Has anyone had any issue with SD card fitting in?
Im changing a Nokia 7.2 to this one and the samsung evo card doesnt fit property
edit: nevermind, seems have to push this one in to fit, others just sat in

  • I can't find anywhere on line - JB website says No Longer Available. Office Works shouldn't have it advertised - just says
    —"Only available online"
—"Not available to Click & Collect"
    (and) "Unavailable Online"
I don't understand the point of even having a product listed Online if that is what is stated ?

I don't think there is anywhere else to check if available at the discounted price. ? Amazon - Nokia Shop has it as $649 now.

    • i just re-checked the OP's link - i was too late originally and missed the sale : "no longer avail" .. now seems back in stock and also reverted to original offer too (free shipping) .. at least for me in south Syd. Go Go Go!

      • curses - was putting in a gift card #, now it's back to "not available" again. Boo!

  • Its over no longer available

  • +1

it gets available randomly. managed to grab one with free express delivery just after lunch

    • +1

yeah that;s what i've seen now too - have to keep refreshing …. well done on getting one

  • Are there any similar specced phones that are available on JB HiFi? Thanks.
