In true Ozbargain fashion 'it's worth a shot' to waste your time and get your details farmed.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

    • +1

I got all of my previous (discounted) orders from JD. Just curious… were there a lot of cancellations?

    • Double post. EDITED.

      • +2

If you browse through their store page on OzBargain and look at previous deals, you'll see a whole bunch of complaints in the comments. I don't doubt that they probably do pull through most of the time but the chances of them cancelling orders is abnormally high.

        • +1

JD cancelled 5 orders in total for myself and my gf.

      • +1

JD tends to put a lot of orders on sale at $10-20. Problem is there is usually only 1 item left in stock and they don't take down the item for quite a while. E.g. These shoes were on sale at 6am and only came down at like 9am.

    • -6

This is only $10. I wouldn't even care if they cancel it and not refund it. It's not like the other sales on AMD CPUs worth over $500 which had no chance of going through.

  • +5

Very few orders are going to be honoured and others will be cancelled. This is JD sport's clickbait marketing strategy.

    • +3

Yeh get people browsing the site today and make some sales, due to FOMO feeling from this 'deal'. Excellent psychology strats at play

    • That's simply not true. It's highly illegal to market in this way and a company of the size and scale of JD would just not risk it.

      • +1

The fact is no one can prove it. If they decide to give 5 or 10 shoes at a throwaway price then there is nothing illlegal about it. It just increase the traffic on their website and once you go there you end up buying something else. Neither you can prove it that they don't do this nor I can prove it that they do this but as a smart online shopper myself I can definitely sense this. You can see the history of JD posts here and you will find out what I am talking about.

        • +1

When there’s risk of significant fines any half decent legal team would restrict it.

Ethically speaking, you’d have to have a bunch of people at the company (marketing, pricing, web people, senior management) actively onboard with it.

There would be some sort of paper trail.

Think about what you’re saying too. The effort to go through to get a couple hundred people to give an email address. There are easier, more legal ways that give better outcomes.

I don’t know your experience with this sort of thing but I’m a marketing veteran and at no organization that I’ve worked for would this get anywhere near production.

          • @p1owz0r: No it just appears as a problem that never gets fixed.

“Hey we’re getting a bunch of canceled orders we should do something about updating stock levels more quickly”

manager while looking at the spike in website traffic “Yep sure we’ll get riiiiight on that”

          • +1

@p1owz0r: Every system has loopholes. If an enquiry happens they can just say it was a price error/ human error. If they are doing it they definitely know how to cover their a$$.
As far as effort is concerned, an algorithm which randonly picks up a product and color and reduces it's price to $10 is a cake walk.

  • +1

Clear as day price error. Even flogging these off for $30-40 a pop, they'd still sell like hotcakes.

Hopefully not everyone gets cancelled, though.

  • +5

Here for the comments and incoming negs once orders get cancelled

I was a victim of this during their last ‘sale’
    Good luck peeps

  • On the tracking page, says accepted.. fingers crossed it comes.

Your order has been accepted, once your order has been dispatched we will send you an email and SMS message informing you that your order is on its way.

  • +1

    The only morning I don't check ozbargain….

    • +1

Don't worry, you haven't missed anything. All these orders will eventually get cancelled without an apology.

  • +5

    Just got refunded :(
Best of luck to the early birds! hope the order sticks

    • What time did you place your order?

  • +1

Got 5 orders cancelled in the past, this time I again tried to order around 8.50am by looking at all the positive votes and although the size was showing in stock, at check out I got oos.

Hope all the orders for positive voters are honoured this time.

  • +1

That sucks I missed out - and I have been looking to get these specific shoes too 😩

  • +2

Almost guaranteed your order will get cancelled.

  • +2

I’ve bought 5 of these ‘shoe deals’ from JD Sports over the past year, all 5 including this one have been refunded and their support claimed pricing error. This is borderline illegal activity.

  • Wicked deal. Got in early 11.5. Cheers op

  • -4

SERIOUSLY there should be a law to make retailer held responsible for price error.

The business can terminate the sale contract if the price is wrong but we can't terminate the sale contract is we change our mine? EXCELLENT!!

  • +1

Most likely will be cancelled like previous orders..

  • +5

Never have received any order from them and they deserved to be banned .
Just checked by email and it full of there spam the only reason they do these great deals is data mining .
I flagged all the spam and hopefully it keeps it out .

    • +1

Looks like I didn't miss out on a great deal.

  • +7

Why do people keep upvoting JD?

Why are some of the users on OzBargain so gullible.

JD are worse then the Jerky I am still waiting for.

Cancelled previous orders even at full price using the excuse that there back if house does not sync up with front of house.

    • +2

Not everybody sits on Ozb everyday and takes notes on different sellers, I wouldn't call it gullible.

Not gonna lie, first time I've noticed a JD deal, so that is why I've bit the bullet and purchased/upvoted.

      • +2

        Cancellation email in 3…2…1..

        • +1

Hope not, I got $10 vans off another deal in the past. Another pair would be great.

          EDIT: Refunded!

Quick way to revoke my vote

          • +2

@Fooah: Not my first rodeo haha.
JD are the scum of all scums lol

            • @iNeed2Pee: Should be site banned if it's that bad, actually a disgrace.

              • +2

@Fooah: Been trying, but the mods just said to use the negative vote and explain previous dealings to justify the neg vote.

So I have been doing that:)

                • @iNeed2Pee: Does the seller end up paying more as they took the fund and then refund, will the transaction fee cost them?

      • +1

Reminded of the boy who cried wolf story. This is the one where we really have to trust the people who have experience first hand. Keep these username in mind, if they neg, likely it is a bad deal.

        • +1

100%. I just hate JD practice. You will see items on there website at a discounted rate with the sizes greyed out.

They do this because they want to show you that these products are at a bullshit low price and you have missed out on it, or they have one size available and the back of house don't match with there front of house.

They keep doing it. And people keep posting deals because they see these prices and think "WOW LOOK HOW LOW THIS IS, I MUST POST ON OZBARGAIN."

I hate them. (JD that is). I will neg every post I see posted based on my previous experiences.

          • +1

@iNeed2Pee: These companies are getting the free publicity they don't deserve.

          • +1

@iNeed2Pee: We need more people like you to neg, post like these give ozbargainers the impression it is a great deal with more than 100 upvote and the one who neg is the one who missed out and complain. This is definitely not the case in this situation. Op should put buyer beware in cap on the post description to warn others, so if someone do a search on ozbargain, people can learn to avoid these pitfalls.

  • +1

    Refunded

  • +5

People need to learn to not order from these clowns. Saw this post this morning and didn’t even bother

JD is either really incompetent for allowing these so called ‘price errors’ to keep happening or they’re doing it on purpose. Either way dodgy is dodgy

    • +1

Interesting way to get an email list I guess.

  • Order cancelled and refunded, at least PUMA sent out their orders…

  • +2

Looks like it’s not just the order cancellations that is an issue at this place

    JD you’ve done it again!

  • +1

for future reference, these are bad shoes for skating despite the name, you want the pro models if you want them to last more than a week over a skateboard

    • Any other recommendations for good skate shoes that are easily obtainable in Aus? Are Cariuma good?

      • +1

in true ozbargain fashion, I've never bought any of those full prized premium shoes like Cariuma so i wouldn't know, i mean some pro's wear them but I can't justify spending that much on a shoe that I'll literally thrash in a month or two

In theory, you should stay away from canvas uppers and look for either reinforced suede/leather around the pinky toe, outer edge of your foot for the ollie/flick area. flat shoes is a must, as well as something with a padded insole (you can reuse these as well from shoe to shoe)

The Vans pro models goes on sale under 100 from the website, you just gotta check the clearance part often. Nike SB's are decent from what I've seen but just look out for the upper as long as it's not canvas because those rip too easily. Don't forget to check out smaller brands too like Element and DC, since not much people buy that stuff they go on sale often. Lacais are alright too but they are often expensive.

tl:dr reinforced suede/anything but canvas uppers, flat and good insole is all you need. Vans pro models on sale under 100 will lasts you a couple months skating 3-4 times a week. Other brands nike sb, element, dc, converse, puma. smaller brands tend to be a little cheaper

        • +1

Thanks for the detailed reply! I've worn SBs before but the toe box was too flat.

          • +1

@Ghost47: fair enough, shoot me a PM before you buy a shoe if you want so I can see if they're decent

  • -1

    Shippings kills it

  • Just received the refund and sorry email :P

    • +2

Just received the refund, but haven't received a sorry email. Guess they're not sorry
