Looking for Some Really Nice Bed Sheets Set - Haven't Made a Bed in My Life

Hey guys, Lavar here.

I want to do something nice for the Mrs and get us some really nice bed sheets set (quilt cover, fitted sheet, pillow cases)

Does anyone recommend any particular brand? Open to both cotton/linen just want them to be high quality and soft

Budget is up to $700 for 1 set - so I am hoping they are really good quality - will probably get 2 pairs.

P.S I have never made our bed and I want to show appreciation by getting really nice sheets that she always when we go to fancy hotels.

Hoping to make the bed and surprise her one night.

LOT of OZB drives Teslas, Mercs, Audis, BMWs so maybe not the worst place for advice

as we get older, we have realised that we enjoy nice things and we believe we deserve them.

each person enjoys spending their money on different things. some people spend 4k on a designer brand etc

since we spend 8 hours in bed every night (and sometimes 90 seconds more ;p) we want to have amazing soft sheets.

we invested in a really lovely mattress and bed, and would like to feel amazing since we are on the bed 1/3 of our lives.

not saying your way is correct or incorrect, just offering some perspective

      • Was with you until

        we believe we deserve them

I don’t deserve my pretty good life anymore than people born into poverty do theirs - we land where we do, sometimes we make good of that, we don’t deserve it.

Seriously, I’m well off (mainly through my parents and my own hard work) I can afford $700 sheets, but it’s not my thing, I don’t deserve that, it’s where I landed.

Buy whatever you like (fancy sheets are grand) but you’re no more ‘deserving’ than most - deserving in general is a dangerous concept.

Lavar, lets stop shooting bricks like your sons, and get straight to the point.

Your company has some sheets. Look here:

    • hahaha i wish i could upvote you 100000x

    • I don't know man… LaMelo looks like the real deal

      • Melo is the best out of the bunch. He has the benefit of playing years above his age for so long, and also to play professionally overseas in Lithuania and Australia. Its not just the experience of playing against grown men, but understanding and adapting to life travelling and all the riggers that come with playing professionally.

It is the same thing with Luka (obviously Luka is already MVP level talent). But Luka been playing with professionals since he was 14.

Add to that, the NBA plays no defense in the regular season and Melo looked amazing this first season.

Give him a year or two to further bulk up and develop his body, and more importantly his outside shot. He'll end up having a long career.

Proud of all my boys, apart from Gelo of course.

  • No top sheet?

  • Bedsheets can be a highly subjective topic. Check the brand(s) of your current bedsheets, figure out their price range, the materials they use and narrow down your choices from there.

I would highly recommend using wood instead.

    Honestly,
Target, 1000 TC sheet sets are great value and incredible quality. Put them side by side with a Sheridan Set and other than the tag there's zero difference.

Spending anything over $120 for a sheet set is pure shithousery by the brand.

If you like cotton Sheridan 1000TC - 1500TC ones are pretty nice, when they go on clearance at the outlet you'd be able to get two full sheet sets and a quilt cover for roughly that price.

Otherwise retail is about $600 for 1200TC Quilt cover and $500 for 1000TC sheet sets (per each).

Basically brand doesn't matter if you can find high thread (> 500) counts which are made in France, England, Turkey or Egypt they will generally be pretty damn good. I got some no name Turkish ones that are amazing and were about $150 a set.

    • I can't find 1,500 TC only 1,200. where are u finding the 1,500TC?

      • They used to do a line with 1500, but I don't think they do it anymore.

Bizarrely there site is down right now …

But they often can do up to 70% off with a further VIP discount, VIP is free to sign up for.

      • Do not buy from here the quality is not the same as it would be from David Jones. A number of years ago it used to be stuff that could not be sold at David or Myer that made its way there. Now, what is sold at the outlet is made for the outlet, none of the stuff they sell I have ever seen in David Jones and upon talking to the shop attendant she confirmed that Sheridan did indeed make stuff for their outlets.

I wish they still made Actil Commerial the way they used to when they were made in AUS. Not for ultimate comfort but for durability.

100%. That cool starchy feel of a freshly made bed in summer.

Wife and I are happy with Canningvale

I'd be spending that volume of money on a good mattress - that'll create so much more enjoyment/quality sleep, irrespective of the effects of the sheets!

I like the linen sheets from BedThreads. Bear in mind that high thread is not necessarily better, particularly for linen. I don't like dense and heavy sheets and prefer lighter with better breathability.

  • Sheridan Best I have used . bought mine from Burwood DJ

    https://www.sheridan.com.au/supersoft-lyocel-linen-sheet-set…

  • Gucci, Louis Vuitton

  • Why buy $700 bedsheets when you should learn how to wash the original ones… (since you never change them)

  • Have got the Kmart fitted cotton sheets from this deal for $27 and am happy with it. I ain't paying hundreds of dollars for bed sheets.

    • Seconded.

  • Don't go too high on the thread count. I find 1500 thread count sheets don't breathe as well as 1000.
That's my sweet spot, 500-1000 thread count

  • Yves Delorme (You may not be able to buy everything you need with your budget)/ Kenzo/ Olivier Desforges - Very pretty but quality is not going to be the best as they tend to be of a thread count less than 300. The sheets I have from them don't feel as good as Sheridan's higher end range. However, these brands tend to have the most attractive prints of any sheet supplier. Olivier Desforges and Kenzo are probably a step below Yves in terms of quality, as they tend to made from very thin cotton, Kenzo is especially guilty of this.

Luxotic - I very recently acquired a doona cover and pillows in 'french linen' from this firm and I must say it is rather gorgeous, very suited to a summer or warm spring. In terms of quality I'd rank it slightly above the aforementioned brands.

    https://www.luxotic.com.au

Sheridan - This is a brand we are all very familiar with, truly their sheets of 1200tc are unbelievable, they feel so heavy, thick and substantial, it's stunning to have sheets like these to go to bed in.

    https://www.davidjones.com/brand/sheridan/bedroom

Linenly - A brand I recently discovered online when I was looking for 100% bamboo sheets and doona covers, the sheets feel like silk against your skin. Make sure if you buy bamboo sheets they are 100% bamboo otherwise you may as well buy cotton sheets. Bamboo tends to want to steal warmth away from you, as such they are very good summer sheets.

    https://www.linenly.com.au

David Jones - Their own brand is of high quality and you will not be disappointed if you were to purchase it. Best value doonas and pillows.

    https://www.davidjones.com/brand/david-jones/home-and-food/b…

Aldi - Their 1000tc sheets are very nice, both for the price and the quality you cannot fault them, next time you're in Aldo keep an eye out for them.

I would recommend investing in nice pillows and a good doona before you buy any sheets, believe me your bed is going to ffel far more luxurious with a down doona and down pillows, buy the ones from David Jones' own brand because they are the best choice in terms of price and quality. Buy the 85% down for colder months and the summer 50% down for everything else. Their own pillows are very good, the 85% down is the one I sleep on and it's a very comfortable good pillow. The reason I do not recommend wool is that it cannot be washed in the washing machine at high temperatures, as such the oils will remain on the doona and the yellowing will remain.
