Think that is AusPost (or whatever courier) issue, most of the time.

Outer box bigger then the actual box (marvel guardian ship).
Padded with scrunched paper.
Actual box, bubble wrapped.

Send in a complaint (to DJ), maybe really Karen thing to do, but from a company POV, sometimes the issues don't get up the hierarchy.
Yep, I think 2 out of my last 4 sets have been sent in a plastic bag.
Have complained - should do better for $100+ sets (all sets really).
I've ordered 10+ different sets from David Jones over the last year during sales & no boxes have come damaged for me luckily but if that does ever happen I'm sure they'd accept refund/returns for a crushed box. Have also ordered Lego from Kmart, Target, Amazon, Myer & haven't got unlucky just yet with a bad box
File a complaint with AusPost.
They were fairly prompt in response. (For an issue at our office address)
Action wise, seemed to have improved, although still get the occasional re-occurrence.
Again I will just send another complaint in with exact date/time/photos.
So they can talk to the right courier, cause from years long experience with them at the same office address, it feels like there is a usual driver (which is good).
Then there is another (fill-in?), which isn't as good.
Obviously they won't tell you that.

Sounds like you had a bad experience. Was everything inside broken? I think you can glue the bits back together but I understand the frustration :(

David Jones have really improved their packaging. The past 3 purchases have arrived in super large boxes with excess padding inside.
It really all depends who the order got shunted to for fulfilment. If it got shunted to a warehouse, it'll probably be packed properly in a proper box, padded, etc. as they do it all the time. If it got passed to a store, its completely random what you'll get it packed in, satchel, box, as its up to the whim of whichever work experience kid got assigned to that job for that day,
Anything that has a tracking number of 44PDJ should be in a box as it's warehouse fulfilled. Anything else, especially plastic bags, is store or third-party fulfilled.
