Is This a Bargain? - ASUS TUF Dash F15 15.6" Full HD 144hz Gaming Laptop (Intel i7) [RTX3050Ti] $1799

Hey everyone

Haven’t bought a laptop for quite a while, not really up on the current specs/prices.

Is this the bargain i think it is?

If not, why? and is there should else I should be looking at?

Used for casual gaming - budget hopefully under 2k

TIA

Heaps of better and cheaper options for casual gaming. I'd probably recommend this Was cheaper on eBay - not sure if still the case.

Slightly weaker graphics card (possibly, depends on the wattage of each model) but the CPU is an absolute beast compared to that Asus' Intel.

    • Wow great price, thank you.

If you haven't seen it already, this recently posted deal is much better:

    • Thanks just seeing it now.
      Definitely a better deal!

yep my bad, i posted the link in the wrong forum.

most of the better deals are now expired, but for a little over the budget of $2000 ($2209 with eCoupon, including GST), you can go for this:

        https://www.lenovo.com/au/en/laptops/legion-laptops/legion-5…

I'll talk about the pros and cons below:

        Pros:
        - Ryzen 7 5800H, very powerful CPU, great for gaming and other tasks. 8 Cores and 16 Threads !
        - Windows 10 Home included
        - Dual Channel 2x8GB
        - 802.11AX (2x2) & Bluetooth® 5.1 (Wifi 6 essentially)
        - RGB backlighting ;). I haven't had any experience whatsoever with Lenovo software, so I can't tell you much about the useabilility of their programs.
        - 130W RTX 3060. The legion series doesn't skimp their products with lower TDP graphics cards which are much weaker. The higher end 130W RTX 3060 can even perform better than the lower TDP versions of the RTX 3070 (I think it was 80W?, can't remember.)
        - One of the main pros is the screen. At this price you will be getting:
        16.0" WQXGA (2560x1600) IPS 500nits Anti-glare, 165Hz, 100% sRGB, Dolby Vision, HDR 400, Free-Sync, G-Sync, DC dimmer

So the screen is QHD, IPS at 165HZ with FreeSync/GSync, HDR AND Dolby Vision. That's a crazy amount of features at this price.

        Cons:
        - Only 16GB of RAM, Could be 32GB and of course you can customize this for a greater price.
        - RAM speeds slightly on the lower end at 3200MHZ.

        • oh ok thanks man, what were the better deals that I missed out on. Perhaps I will wait a bit to see if they come back thanks

        • Ahhhh man you had me totally sold on this, I had it in my cart with the ram upgrade and all…….and then I noticed “ships in 7 weeks”
          I could cry haha.

        • Opinion on this @ discounted price of $2460 ???

          • @Lou Sarsol: Everything does look good in that deal except for the RAM and the screen. I would expect a QHD screen at that price and the features of the monitor aren't as plentiful as in the other link I posted.

But yeah, if you want it to ship fast and have a high-end laptop at a decent price then I would go for it. There are drawbacks, although minor, and overall everything else, GPU included, seems similar to the deal i posted.

            • @EshaySlayer: I checked one last time tonight and found the delivery date had shortened to 5 weeks. Not ideal, but I decided to go with this anyway. Thanks for the suggestion!
