Let the Monty Python quotes begin…

Praline: Look my lad, I've just about had enough of this. That parrot is definitely deceased. And when I bought it not half an hour ago, you assured me that its lack of movement was dueto it being tired and shagged out after a long squawk.
Shopkeeper: It's probably pining for the fjords.
Praline: Pining for the fjords, what kind of talk is that? Look, why did it fall flat on its back the moment I got it home?
Shopkeeper: The Norwegian Blue prefers kipping on its back. Beautiful bird, lovely plumage.

  • 'Listen, strange women lyin' in ponds distributin' swords is no basis for a system of government! Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony!' ~ Holy Grail :-)

    • You foetid bag of rotting dingo's kidneys, that movie isn't in this pack!

Oh - you wanted an argument? So sorry, this is abuse.

  • Nice price but it's all officially on Youtube anyway which is more convenient when you want so show somebody a skit that they didn't know about.

I went to order some books for my daughter and was shocked that the free postage had ended. I wish I had known. I would have seriously stocked up on cooking books. I put off the books for my daughter and will now look around. Previously, I would just go to Amazon and pretty much trust that was the best price.

Hope they bring back the free postage. I always bought more because of it.

Check them at booko.com.au , they will tell you the cheapest place

  • Stupid DVD regions prevent me buying this.

    • The ACCC requires that all DVD players sold in Australia be region unlockable. The code should be with the manual, but you can also do a search on the web for how to unlock your particular model.

Or if you're not sure post the brand and model number here, and someone will undoubtedly track the details down for you. (Warning: I think there are a few websites still that try to sell or give away software that'll "help you unlock your DVD player". Likelihood is that you don't need it, risk is that the software is malware).

Edit: I may be misinformed about the ACCC thing - that may be just apocryphal, as I couldn't see anything in a quick check of their website. Regardless, most if not all DVD players are unlockable.

      • [Wikipedia's article on region coding] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_region_code#Criticism_and_l…) has references to some concerns expressed by the ACCC about the effects of DVD region coding on competitive markets. Which is nice, but I'm pretty sure that the endless mantras from entertainment industry representatives that region codes are copy protection instead of free market restriction, combined with our attempt to placate the USA in the 2006 amendments to the Copyright Act, mean that the major parties are reluctant to explicitly grant us plebs such a dangerous right.

After all, it only took the Australian parliament until 2006 to finally grant us the legal right to record TV for later personal viewing, or format shift music for our own use, activities which have been going on in some form since the 1970s, so at that rate they might make DVD region coding circumvention legal by… 2020? :^/

I suspect the politicians only made format shifting legal because it was a bit embarrassing that all their children were actually criminals for ripping their CDs to their iPods.

    • I always check I can find the unlock codes for a model dvd player before I buy the player!

  • Just clicked on the link hoping to buy, but got this message: "We are not able to dispatch this item to your default delivery address." Anybody else getting this?

    • I got that too but kept going and it went through.

  • Worked a treat, for me and only $23.50 AU. Thanks heaps!
