  • is this a joke?

  • cool deal, wonder what the commentaries like..
BTW do you know where i can get cheap bibles for this software?
$35 for an niv is a bit much…

    • Sorry but I have no idea. Logos is not cheap but it is a lot more feature complete than those free bible software. You can't really get out from the NIV tax — blame it on Zondervan (which is a subsidiary of News Corp btw).

The best free alternative would be e-Sword (freeware) or the SWORD project (open source), and then get the free ESV text. ESV is much better anyway — it is much more literal in translation but still quite readable.

  • is this a "bargain" or a "deal" or just an attempt at proselytising???

    • If it was sucessful then I believe you would see it done a lot more often, so I don't think this post was meant for that. Plus, I'd doubt people could be converted just because they got given a free gift, if that works then you'd see Christians handing out bibles everyday. Plus this is a commentary so really mean for those who are already Christians so I'd doubt it would've been used for trying to convert.

    • just because it's related to Christianity it's a bad deal?
btw prosletysing would be posting "Jesus free gift of salvation" under freebies… which is actually the best deal you'd come across anywhere, ever…
for a mind opening experience: http://www.thereasonforgod.com/

edit: hmm I shouldn't use such harsh words, I suppose people have their reasons for being so touchy

      • that's the ultimate freebie isn't it ;)

  • Any other freebie and every one would be jumping over it.

This is as good as a freebie as anything else (if not better)

So it deffinatly deserves a positive!!

  • Guys,

You have the freedom to click and choose. If this does not appeal to you - you definitely can move on rather than subjecting your opinions that may offend someone - which is also known as racism against religion.

    • timbomb,

terming it "racism against religion" is what is offensive, I believe the correct word is prejudice, as this has nothing to do with race.

  • Hey guys. No, this is not an attempt to try to convert anyone. But as I am a Christian, have many friends in the Christian ministry and some of them even use this site — I thought giving them something like this (it's actually a tip from a friend of mine) would be useful.

Logos is a well established software company and if you are a Christian you'll know what I am talking about. It's like Microsoft giving away MS Word for free for a limited time — completely useless to me as I am a StarOffice/OpenOffice user for 10+ years, but I am sure some of you who subscribe to "that religion" would appreciate :)

    • Scotty,

      fair enough :-)

for what it's worth, I was raised Catholic, and I have no problem with Christians, or Christianity ;-)

      • sorry it's probably not the right forum for this kinda thing but i'm confused
if you don't have a problem with christians or christianity, did you vote negative because you have a problem with christians sharing their faith?

  • The only thing worse than letting religion run you're life, is letting someones else's interpretation of it run you're life.

  • Wow…why are people so jumpy when it comes to religion?

Is it because it reminds you that you haven't 'done enough'? That you could be a better person? Is it guilt that causes the defence mechanism to strike?

Without sparking a 'discussion'… A belief is a belief, and each to their own. Everybody has different 'motivational' sources.

Plain and simple: Vote a positive if you think this deal MAY benefit yourself/others, and vote negative if you think this deal is not beneficial to yourself or anyone else.

I think it is a good deal Scotty, even though I'm too lazy to 'claim it' now. But I know it is here, and may be able to get hold of it when I do feel 'the tug' to do so. Is there an expiry date for this?

    • Sorry no idea. It says on the web page:

For a limited time (until the Pre-Pub ships)

Whenever that is… I have no idea about the new series but I did own (almost) full set of Tyndale and I'll say the "quality varies" although most of them are quite good.

  • Thanks. I havent seen this before but I will check it out.

  • Ok… so to those who added the -1 vote… was it because you found it WASN'T a bargain? or did you find that you wouldn't use the product/service?

    Think carefully before you vote.

I thought we use the -1 if its NOT a bargain, a hoax, falsely advertised etc…

Personally, I wouldnt buy (or use) the product but needless to say, its a bargain.

  • i cant belive this is called a bargain.??

  • great deal, thankyou!
