50% off SIM Plans When You Port in Second Number (Eligible Customers Only) 20GB for $22.50/Mth for 12 Months @ Optus

250

Eligible customers only when you bring an additional number to Optus.

Okay so i posted this offer about a month or so ago and checked the link after someone commented on it and it's somehow live again?

Another good opportunity to get in with a cheap SIM plan!

Approved customers who sign up to a $45 or $55 Choice Plan ('Primary Service’) and also port-in a number from another network provider that is not on the Optus network (‘Additional Service’) via the My Optus App will receive 50% off the monthly plan fees for the Additional Service for up to 12 months. All services must be on the same billing account or, in the case of a Fixed Primary Service, under the same name and same billing address.

Discount will be removed if customers recontracts the discounted service (which includes adding or removing a device payment plan) or rate plan changes the discounted service to an ineligible service, cancels either service or moves either service to a separate billing account.

Discount not available with other discount offers. Discount does not apply to any add-ons or device repayments. Discount applies to the first bill. Consumer and Business customers only (excludes Techfund). Offer available from 09/08/21 until 22/08/21.

Shame doesn't work for existing out of contract users.

    • What do they mean by additional number? Does this mean a new customer bringing a single new number? Or a new customer needs to bring their own new number plus an additional number (i.e. second number)???

        From the website:

        • So it looks like I can't bring my wife's number from Vodafone to Optus with this offer, even though I have received this offer from Optus myself.

          • @ymmf: You can call up and as long as you're porting in from another provider or optus prepay, they'll give you the 50% discount. My partner and I are porting from circles.life

  • Still expensive

    Bad network

How is the fastest 5G network bad?

      • +1

I was with Optus for several years before moving last month to Telstra. I also thought the same as you.

Every time my phone was switching to a 5G area with Optus it would completely slow down or bug. 5G wasn’t working well half of the time.

Since moving to Telstra it has been seem less. No browsing issues.

So yes Optus has the fastest 5G, when it works only though.

  • $27.5 with 80GB is not too bad

  • FYI for existing Optus customers. I recently asked Optus to match iiNet's $15/month 40gb offer for my 2 existing services - they wouldn't go THAT low but did come back at $20/month for this same 20gb offer.

    • How'd you go about asking? Online chat?

      • Yep, just gave them the competing offer and asked them for their best price.

        • Currently trying but the bloke on the chat said "now we are only price matching with the 5g devices", whatever that means.

    • nice, thanks for sharing - i ended up with a $20 loyalty discount on the same plan, making it $25 for 20gb

Has 5G network access so that's pretty cheap.

  • It seems you might be able to buy a cheap Optus prepay sim and then convert to this deal?

  • I recently moved from Telstra to Optus as the network was very poor(0 bars on my phone). It is very good now. I purchased the $180 prepaid plan for $150 for an year. This will be like $12.5/month.

  • Best to go with prepaid plans WAY WAY CHEAPER unless you nerd need 5g for some reason, but even then use Vodafone would be better option

  • can you have the 10% off student voucher applied to this offer?

  • Up to $70.00 cashback at Optus via cash rewards will it work with this offer?

  • Would you be able to have the 25% off for having a second optus service applied to this offer?

  • Has anybody figured out if you can just buy a $2 sim and port your number over to prepay, then immediately upgrade to this deal (without having two services with them)? I'm really desperate to know.. $27.50 for 80gb, optus sports and subhub access seems worth it to me. I currently pay $28/month with circles.life

    • +2

Never mind, just called up and asked for the 50% off deal and got it. Will sign up to subhub once i get my sim and can activate.

  • ref " Discount not available with other discount offers. " so i guess the 10% discount student code would work?

  • +1

cash rewards has the Postpaid Mobile - Handset & SIM Plans $55 so might be worth getting the $1 per month Moto 8 phone. however i dont think cash rewards would pay up as no discounts are allowed?

    • Thanks for pointing this out.. Just got the motorola G8 on the plan.. bargain for $12 total!

      • yep i got the g8 lite added on to this deal via chat and i only had data sims with optus so they allowed me to port in 1 phone number to get this $22.50 + $1 for G8 deal . now have to sell the G8 lite as i already own one.
