Just stumbled upon this USB C hub that is being sold by Harris Technology and decided to give it a go with my Google Chromecast TV, let's hope it works. One thing I am not sure about is if this does power passthrough? If anyone knows or has any experience with this please shed some light. The same item is selling at Catch for $59

I know there is only 1 x review and that too is terrible but I will take my chances.

Buy it at your own risk though.

There are a couple of more Aerocool USB C hubs from the same seller but all have poor reviews probably because people were using the HDMI port.

    I think the OP was intending it as cheap alternative to the Google Ethernet adaptor for Chromecast with Google TV, in this case you don't need HDMI (is output from the device to HDMI).

    So gaining USB port/s for storage is a benefit, just not as practical if you were after a dock for monitor etc.

    Not sure how it would blow up unless it's got a real cheap AC adaptor, but could use one you gave lying around or replace perhaps for $10 big W. Amazon don't care if you return stuff, if it doesn't work.

  Yes it does power passthrough for a Macbook Pro via USB-C, and can provide power for external HDDs via USB-A ports.

  Be aware that it does get pretty warm though, but is otherwise an excellent compact/portable 'dock' for ethernet, USB ports, charging and HDMI (if you get the version with an HDMI port, but I think that's been discontinued for over a year now).
