  • Might be worth mentioning HD at extra cost.

Note that these are BNC cameras with a XVR not PoE with a NVR

    • +1

Strongly recommend people avoid this BNC rubbish.

Spend the little extra and get a decent IP camera system.

      • Can you recommend a really robust system that is steady, requires little maintenence to ensure continuous capture for later review, and is difficult to tamper with?

    • Thanks for the note, we also provide PoE cameras with a NVR, HEAR is the Kit with a NVR and four PoE cameras. :D

  • How difficult to install the cameras under the roof?

    • +1

Depending on your home and skill set but generally super easy but technically illegal in this country 😂

      • What do you mean by technically illegal?

        • -1

It's illegal for a person to do any sort of fixed wiring in a home that involves HV and cabling that connects to networks outside of the home. A open cabler licence with security endorsement is required

          • -1

@DoesntEvenMatter: You're wrong there as all these units are plug and play. No different to buying it from bunnings. These units are 12v not HV so anyone can install them.

            • @5ur3m8: Nope, I'm not wrong. Maybe look it up and do some research, has nothing to do with being plug and play lol and bunnings selling it doesn't mean you can install them in this country legally PS did you know bunnings also sell GPOs and RCDs. These connect to the communications network which also makes them illegal to install as structured cabling therfore needs a open cabler licence. Same reason it's illegal to run your own network data cables. Voltage doesn't matter

              • @DoesntEvenMatter: Different rules here in W.A.

Under the provisions of the Security and Related Activities (Control) Act
1996 any person installing security equipment (including cameras used for security
purposes) for "remuneration" must hold a license issued by the Western Australia
                Police.

So If you're installing them for your own property and have approval from neighbours there's no issues.

With regards to GPOs, RCDs etc they have disclaimers so you install then at your own risk.

                • @5ur3m8: No it's a federal law under the ACMA for installing structural/fixed cabling connected to the telecom network. So basically you can install your cameras on your own in only your property if all the cabling is exposed and not in the roof, cavity, ceiling, subfloor etc. Now that's legal same as installing wireless/solar security cameras which if you look at the their info on packaging say DIY now if you looked at a hardwired camera it says needs a professional install. So cables seen it's fine, cables hidden in walls it's illegal.

Its a completely stupid thing we have in aus and a joke because our regs are ANZ and back in New Zealand it's legal for a home owner to do their own LV and HV as well as any data security cabling

If you have to ask that question, it's too difficult.

Why would you put Sparky Direct in the title when its not the business name?
Trying to steal Sparky Direct customers?

Not sure if buying BNC cameras in this era is considered a bargin even at half the price. Great if you're retrofitting from an old system i guess?

    • +1

It's not. Could always use the old BNC to pull through catX

      • Cant believe they still make BNC systems

While on the topic of cameras, does anyone have any recommendations on a good POE camera system these days? (not Ubiquiti tho)
Any link to a good thread or suggestion of brands would be nice, looking for an offline option system but POE

Reolink is quite good for the price. They have a PoE 5MP setup similar to this for around $550 on special. Cums with a 2TB HDD as well and the app is great.

From my experience as a CCTV project designer, Dahua and Hikvision would give you the best quality products for very little price.

Entry-level Dahua IPC-HDW3641 6MP IP camera is just over $100, choose a simple NVR4 series recorder according to the channels required. Seadan, CRK, Secusafe, Hills are authorised distributors. No point in buying grey products to save a few dollars nowadays. Warranty and support are worth a lot more as labour costs would make any 2nd visit uneconomical. There are plenty of installers/integrators who provide installation or package deals.
Dahua NVR5 series recorder can also integrate into any 3rd party alarm panel with dry contact output to arm/disarm TiOC cameras.

Two of my friends recently had six of those exact cameras installed with eight channel NVR, with labour all up just over 2K.
Can't find those cameras for less than $130.

    • Thank you for the reply. Dahua and Hikvision are the most popular brands of CCTV system. We provide both of them. Glad to hear it is useful for you! Feel free to search for more Kits on our website.

  • how much would it cost to install these?

    • +1

I think depends on size of your house and roof structure etc. simply put around $500 to $900 for 4 camera + nvr/xvr set up if you pay a cabler/electrician?

      • +2

Just make sure the installer has a Security Installer's license.
