This is a great recitation of the Quran from Islam Australia Network. Both the original Arabic and English translations are available in MP3 format. Works great on an iPod. Totally free.

  • Negging this one because
    1. The Quran has been and always will be free which makes this not a bargain
    2. Ozbargain is not a front to spread religion.

    • "2. Ozbargain is not a front to spread religion."

Double standards: a commentary for the Christian Bible is currently enjoying front page status as a "bargain".

      • Sorry but it's just people expressing their opinion with voting — although it is impossible to force people to vote completely base on the "bargain value". I think the point is — the Logos Bible commentary was something that wasn't free before but has been made free for a limited time, whereas MP3 download of your text has always been free (thus less a freebie but not sure whether it warrants a negative vote).

I am sure we have free quran posted here before. Not that I agree with any of these but I guess that would be reserved for a completely different site :)

Final point — all the MP3's are pointed at Islamway.com and your page is just a doorway page. Please post the actual page instead of a doorway/landing page.

        • Scotty,

Did you need to bring your own prejudices into it by stating that "not that I agree with any of these" about the Quran, when responding to abdul's comment? I think this was completely unnecessary, especially as you didn't elaborate on it, saying it would be reserved for a completely different site (as it should be).

I feel that this is the problem when religious bargains or freebies are posted and your own religious bias is demonstrated … people are always going to be offended by religion, like politics. I'm just offended by prejudice …

          • @kathleenjoy: I'm offended by your prejudice against things that make you feel offended. Is that ok?

Sorry - i'm not trying to insult you. . but it's IMPOSSIBLE to use 'being offended' as an ethical guideline.

case in point: those in my philosophy class enjoy discussions like these (religion, morality, ethics, philosophy etc). . we dont find these offensive at all. . we feel offended when people DONT like to engage in such things.

If we're going to use what is offensive. . if i could be so bold as to hypothetically propose that if am i allowed to be offended by the Quran - is that ok?

What if im offended by Paypal because of their recent attempt at partnering with eBay? Am i allowed to request no Paypal and eBay bargains?

What if im offended by Nike because of their sweatshop allegations - am i allowed to request no Nike bargains?

What if im offended by your prejudice against being offended?

The notion of a society that upholds 'tolerance' is a myth because it does not 'tolerate intolerance'. It's self defeating, illogical, and dies by its own sword.

Sorry again - i'm not trying to be rude or insulting. . i am only saying that it's not a valid argument.

            • @yeahnah-nahyeah: over reaction, much?

I was simply pointing out that Scotty didn't need to include his own bias or prejudice towards Islam in his direction to abdul about posting of bargains and freebies, as it is completely beside the point…

              • @kathleenjoy: I can understand the misconception that my reply was 'over reaction'…it wasnt so much as 'over reaction' but actually an entirely appropriate reaction. (In fact, i would argue your whole reaction to the religious thing is over reaction in itself - like i said, I find it quite stimulating as opposed to offensive)

Your point is that Scotty didnt need to include his own bias…nonetheless that still fails to answer the argument put forward. . all you have done is put forward YOUR bias and prejudice i.e. you're against being personally offended…my perspective of his contribution was that it wasnt offensive in the least.

what makes your bias more justified than his?. .they're both forms of 'bias'

              • -1

@kathleenjoy: I was typing up some big response. Got a bit sidetracked. Came back here to read all the comments again. "Bugger that".

I apologise if you are offended by my comment. After all religion is a touchy subject to many and indeed we need to be more careful and more sensitive in what we say on the Internet. I still don't agree with the content in quran — but then everyone has bias and prejudice — just like Holden fans and Mac users (no correlation intended :)

At the end of the day we just have to agree to disagree. I am glad to see that everything is still civil here. I'll withdrawal myself from commenting here, but will close the thread if it goes out of hand.

  • LOL. Abdul, are you signing up to OzBargain just to post this "Free Quran"?

  • put aside any religious argument, a bargain is something that you would expect to get by surrendering something (ie, pay, swap) but you get it for less or even free.. as this item is always free (like the air your breath in .. ) so it's not a bargain.

    • hear hear

    • Agreeing with everyone else here. This doesn't fit into the definition of being a bargain.

  • Kathleen. Anyway, ur saying he cant even state that he doesnt agree with the views of the quran? He's already been very politically correct. And who owns this site anyway? Oh yeah.. its Scotty.

  • ALLAH AHKBAR!!

  • "Wait with lunch Darling, I'm busy right now - there's somebody wrong on the Internet!" LOL You gotta love forums… :)

  • Not a bargain as this is always freely available on the internet. Bible commentary can also be found for free, but that particular site was not originally free, but now is.

    Game……… Set…… Match….. TBK :)

  • Not really a bargain, but not just because its always free (there are other deals I've voted on that are permanently free & still a bargain), but because (1) you'd expect it to be free and (2) it has a very limited market, and (3) it's my vote and I don't have to give any reasons.

  • Thanks for posting this Abdul, I didn't know about this site.

  • This doesn’t fit into the definition of being a bargain.
