Downvote because it's Gigabyte, who has been aware of PSU Exploding issue and ignore the report for months.

Great post. My only issue is its still FHD :(

  • how does this compare to a 3070 135w in the lenovo legion 5?

    • +1

Hard to say, the 3080 here is an 105w 8GB model, I cant find any direct comparison neither. Jarrod only done review on 3060 legion 5 and 3070 legion 5 pro.

I found this small channel with benchmarks on the aorus but it didnt really test the same games as jarrod, some 'comparisons':

aorus hits avg 92fps in far cry new dawn while 3070 L5pro hits 99 in far cry 5

aorus hits avg 75 fps is Shadow of the tomb raider with highest setting w/ray tracing while L5pro hits 111fps without raytracing

      • legion 5 pro 3070 135w beats 3080 105w 8gb

LTT review of the laptop @3min: "Gigabyte cares about your house not burning down"

    LOL

  • This laptop isn't bad in terms of specs on paper, however it will be an absolute energy hog.
Do not expect to be casually bringing this around to school or to work and to expect decent battery life out of it (It'll likely be dead by your third lecture).
Overall the 105W 3080Q does not provide much value over 3060 & 3070 options at 1080P and I wouldn't recommend this purchase.

    • yeah i wonder how much it costs to run this per hour.

  • According to official gigabyte website
    https://www.gigabyte.com/Laptop/AORUS-15G--RTX-30-Series/sp#…

    NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3080 Laptop GPU 8GB GDDR6
Boost Clock 1245 MHz, Maximum Graphics Power 105 W

The laptop weights 2.13kg so compromises will need to be made.

  • I thought AfterPay purchases were limited to $2,000?

    • You can use gift cards to bring it down to $1999 then use Afterpay.

      • Maybe put that in description, not everyone has gift cards

        • Updated, thanks
