Alternative Replacement for a Sold out Victus by HP Laptop 16?

Hey guys

I recently brought the 'Victus by HP Laptop 16, AMD Ryzen 7 5800H (8C/16T), RTX 3060 6GB, FHD 144hz IPS, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD' for $1,655 as per the OzBargain deal for work and some light gaming.

Unfortunately, HP have sold out of the model and are unsure when the new stock will arrive.

They have proposed a replacement 'upgraded' laptop which is in stock - HP Omen Intel i7-10870H, RTX 3060 6GB, FHD 144hz IPS, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD for the same price or alternatively, I can get a refund.

Is their suggested laptop good deal for the price? Or should I take the refund?

Thanks for the advice!

Looks about the same bar the CPU brand switch. If you need it now, take it. If not, refund. Things always get cheaper (barring pandemic graphics shortages).

That said I have never had a good experience with HP.

This is where I’d be at too. I have a preference to Lenovo for laptops but that’s just what I’ve used for nearly 10 years without a failure (4 models) one of which is now 11 years old and been in my family heavily used the whole time.

If u need a laptop, the swap isn’t a downgrade.

Take the refund and get a proper business laptop with a decent graphics card.

    • 3060 isn't a decent graphics card?
      Do go on.

      • Not in that hunk of shit. It's gonna break in a few years. GEt a quality business laptop

Omen has a 300nits screen vs 250nits on the other model. Windows Pro vs Home (nil useable different for most but still nice anyways value wise). No thunderbolt on AMD either so that’s another plus for the replacement. For gaming alone I’d go with the Intel CPU anyways so I’d definitely take the swap if it were me.

  • Hp charge a $$$load if you crack your screen.

  • Thanks everyone, I've decided to take up the replacement Omen laptop given that it sounded like it's slightly better than the original deal.

    Cheers
